A Birch Tree Die Cut Card

Today’s birch tree die cut card only LOOKS like it took forever. Using a large, card front sized die cut, like this one from Rubbernecker, gives you a ton of dimensional interest with one turn through your machine. Then you can add details to your heart’s desire. Check out how I chose to build mine.

For my project I used Birch Forest, Grass, Bunnies, Flower Stems, Small Ivy, Tiny Flower Buds, Small Birds and 3 Pine Tree.

Come check out my birch tree die cut card, complete with happy little bunnies!

The Card Base, Cloud and Tree Background

  • Cut an A2 sized light blue card base.
  • Use white cardstock to cut a scene base to fit behind the tree panel.
  • Create the cloud background using a cloud stencil, blender brush and Tumbled Glass ink.
  • Stamp the pine trees using Shady Lane ink and heat dry.
  • Attach the cloud and tree scene to the card base using ATG adhesive.

The Birch and Grass Layers

  • Cut the birch tree panel using white cardstock and the two grass layers using green cardstock.
  • Use a mini applicator to apply touches of Pumice Stone ink to the birch trees.
  • Attach the tiny ivy leaves to the birch tree branches using glossy accents.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the birch frame.
  • Attach one grass layer to the back of the frame and then apply double stick tape to the back of the grass layer.
  • Line the frame up over the scene and attach it to the base.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the second grass layer and attach it to the front of the birch forest.

The Bunnies, Flower Stems and Birds

  • Cut the bunnies using white cardstock.
  • Apply Antique Linen and Vintage Photo ink to the bunnies using mini applicators.
  • Attach the bunnies to the scene using pieces of mounting tape.
  • Cut the flower stems using green cardstock and the tiny flowers using yellow cardstock.
  • Attach the flowers to the stems using glossy accents.
  • Tuck the flower stems in behind the grass layers and attach using glossy accents.
  • Cut the birds using yellow cardstock and apply touches of Wild Honey ink using a mini applicator.
  • Finish the scene by attaching the birds to the trees and grass using small pieces of mounting tape.

This birch tree die cut card is easier than it looks - come see how I use this die to get a ton of wow!

Now this is only one version of the kind of birch tree die cut card you can make – grab this awesome die and experiment!  We tend to think of using the birch trees on winter cards.  Here a few more examples of birch tree cards I’ve made with a spring/summer theme-  Die Cut Birch Tree Scene, Z Fold Birch and Deer and Woodland Deer Scene.  Check out this Pinterest link for more spring birch tree inspiration.  Thank you for coming by and I hope you have a great day.

  1. What a delightful twist…iconic winter birches turned into a sweet spring promise! The yellow flowers and birds are the perfect shade to complete the look. Terrific!
