I love creating outdoor scene cards that focuses on a theme like these garden tools dies. The pots of flowers have been set out along the fence ready for planting and the tools are ready to do their work to spruce up the yard for spring. For this project I used the new Rubbernecker Garden Tools, Spring Leaves, Leaves and Greenery, Small Flowers #3 paired with the Winter Tree, Tall Terracotta Pots, Picket Fence, Grass and Small Butterflies.
The Card Base, Grass and Fence
- Cut a blue layer 4.50″ x 3.25″ and attach it to the white A2 sized card base using strips of mounting tape.
- Use green cardstock to cut a grass layer and white cardstock to cut the fence.
- Attach the fence to the back of the grass layer using double stick tape.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the grass and fence layer and attach it to the blue card base.
The Tree
- Cut the tree using light brown cardstock and apply Vintage Photo ink by rubbing the ink pad directly over the cardstock.
- Gently wipe a wet baby wipe over the tree to blend in the ink to the trunk and branches.
- Use green cardstock to cut the leaves, and form each leaf with a leaf tool and molding pad.
- Attach the leaves to the tree branches using glossy accents. Note: I use my reverse action tweezers to pick up the leaves and place them right where I want them. The tweezers are like having a third hand and are such a big help when working with small die cuts.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the tree trunk and a few rolled up glue dots to spots on the back of leaves, tuck it in behind the fence and attach to the card base.
The Flowers and Flower Pots
- Use yellow cardstock to cut the flower pots and apply Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge ink using a mini applicator to create the terracotta color.
- Cut several sections of the Leaves and Greenery set.
- Attach branches to the back of the pots using glossy accents and tuck branches in behind the grass and attach using glossy accents.
- Use pink and yellow cardstock to cut the flowers and form them using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
- Attach the flowers to the foliage on the flower pots and along the fence using glossy accents.
- Tuck the pots in behind the grass layer and attach them using strips of mounting tape.
The Garden Tools and Butterflies
- Cut the garden tools using gray cardstock.
- Color all the handles using a dark red marker.
- Arrange the tools in the scene and attach them using glossy accents.
- Use bright pink cardstock to cut the butterflies and attach three of them to the card base and fence using glossy accents.
- Finish the butterflies by attaching pre made white Nuvo Crystal Drops to each using glossy accents.
I am excited to announce that Rubbernecker is holding a store wide 15% off sale.
