I love making cards with spring flowers and my project today certainly announces that spring has finally arrived. For this project I used the new Rubbernecker Arch Trellis as a window and covered it with foliage from the new Leaves and Greenery and Tiny Flower Buds. The eyelet drapes behind the window was made using the Borders 2. I attached the Tulip Tops to the the new Garden Stems and created a flower bed with strips of Grass along the front of the house. My favorite thing about this card are the three Cats playing in the tulips and looking in the window.
The Card Base
- Cut a blue A2 sized card base.
- Cut several 4.25 x .50″ pieces of white card stock.
- Start at the bottom of the card base and attach the first strip of cardstock using ATG adhesive.
- Continue attaching the strips up the card base to create the siding for the house.
- Finish the top of the siding on each side with a 3/8″ strip of crimped cardstock and attach using double stick tape.
See Through Window
- Cut an Arch Trellis using white cardstock..
- Use the inner trellis openings as a template to draw cut lines on the card base.
- Cut the window opening 1/8″ outside the template lines using a craft knife. You may have to cut each section a couple of times to get through the layers of cardstock.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the trellis and attach it over the opening.
- Cut 2 1.00″ wide decorative drape sections using the Borders 2 die and run them through the crimper to add dimension.
- Apply 1/8″ double stick tape around the inside window opening and attach the drapes leaving an opening to see through.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back open window and drapes and attach a piece of decorative paper to show be hidn the drapes.
Complete the Scene
- Use green cardstock to cut the Leaves and Greenery, Garden Stems and Grass.
- Use several pastel colors of cardstock to cut the Tulips and Tiny Flowers.
- Attach foliage and tiny flowers to the top of the Arch Trellis using glossy accents.
- Use ATG adhesive to attach the back grass layer to the card base and strip of mounting tape to attach the front grass section.
- Attach the tulips to the garden stems using glossy accents.
- Tuck the tulips in behind the front grass layer and attach using glossy accents.
- Use white cardstock to cut the cats and color them using a black marker.
- Finish the scene by attaching the cats in the tulips and on the window using pieces of mounting tape.
