Script Word Dies

Script word dies are so popular now in card making.  I like to use them on clean and simple cards and pop them up to create dimension and interest and embellish them with tiny flowers and leaves.  I created a soft pink stenciled background to enhance the script word.  For this card I used the Rubbernecker Love Script, Nested Square Scallop, Circle Lattice (stencil), Spring Leaves, Small Flowers #1.

Script word dies can make a big impression on a clean and simple card front. Come see how I use mounting tape to pop up large die cut words on my cards.

The Stenciled Background and Card Base

  • Cut a white 4.50″ square card base.
  • Cut the Circle Lattice using scrap cardstock.
  • Place the die cut layer on the platform, line up the die a second time and run through the machine.
  • Place the die cut over a piece of white cardstock and secure in place using masking tape.
  • Apply ink to the white layer using Rose ink from the Color Fuse Set #5 and a large blender brush.
  • Use the largest scalloped square to cut the stenciled layer.
  • Attach the scalloped layer to the green layer using strips of mounting tape.
  • Use double stick tape to attach the green and stenciled layer to the card base,

Large scriot word dies create such an interesting focal point on clean and simple cards. Let me show you how I embellish with small leaves and flowers.

The Script Word, Flowers and Leaves

  • Apply Rose ink to a piece of white cardstock using a blender brush.
  • Use the pink cardstock to cut the Love script word and small flowers.
  • Cut the tiny leaves using green cardstock.
  • Apply thin pieces of mounting tape to several key spots on the back of the Love word and attach it to the card base.
  • Place the leaves and small flower on the molding pad.  Form the flowers with the small tipped stylus and the leaves using the leaf tool.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the leaves and flowers to the word.
  • Use a green marker to color in a tiny flower center for each flower.
