If you are looking for Christmas card making ideas, I think you might get a kick out of this one. I don’t know what it is about Christmas trains, but they are so charming and fun and at the same time can be pleasantly nostalgic. ALL of the gorgeous detail you see here is thanks to Rubbernecker! And do you spot that cool slimline insert die?
For this card I used the Rubbernecker Slimline Solid Postage, Slimline Inside Diagonal, Train and Tiny Leaves.
Card Base and Slimline Solid and Insert Die
- Cut the 3.50″ x 8.50″ card base using white cardstock and score lengthwise at 3.50″.
- Use red cardstock to cut a 3.25″ x 8.25″ rectangle layer and attach to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Cut a 2.00″ x 7.00″ strip of light blue cardstock and attach it to the red layer using ATG adhesive.
- Cut the solid slimline using white cardstock, place it back on the cutting platform, line up the inside slimline die and run though the machine a second time.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the scallop layer and attach it to the card base.
The Train
- Cut the train pieces out in the colors of your choice.
- Follow the step by step directions below. These directions will live on the Rubbernecker store site with the train link.
- I used glossy accents, rolled glue dots and mounting tape to assemble and attach all the pieces.
- I modified one of the train cars by using the top roof portion of the engine housing to create a caboose.
- Cut three sections of trace, attach them together using glossy accents and then attach them to the card front using glossy accents.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the train sections and attach to the card front.
- Embellish the train with small holly leaves and red holly berries.

Wow! Fabulous card Kittie!!! Looks like the Polar Express in a way.
Oh Kittie, this is such a sweet card. I love it. Not only are you related to Mother Nature when it comes to making flowers, you must have the eyesight of an eagle to put all those pieces together…. Very impressive….
So very cute, love the Christmas train all decked out!
