Inking Techniques Using Color Fuse

I am LOVING the Color Fuse Ink from Rubbernecker and today I want to share some inking techniques using them plus some maple leaves cut from plain old white card stock. I really love how these beautifully shaded and blended leaves pop off the white background. For this card I used the Maple Leaves and a sentiment from the Splatter Leaves clear set.

The Card Base and Sentiment

  • Cut the A2 sized card base using white cardstock.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the card base using black ink.  Note:  I love how Versafine Clair ink creates such a crisp image for sentiments.
  • Use white card stock to cut two layers:
    • 2.00″ x 5.50 and 2.25″ x 5.50″
  • Apply Pumpkin ink to the edges of the 2.25″ wide layer. using a mini applicator.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the 2.00″ wide layer and attach it to the 2.25″ layer.
  • Use strips of mounting tape to attach the two layers to the card base.

Color the Leaves

  • Cut one set of the Maple leaves using white cardstock.
  • Apply Fern ink to about 1/3 of each leaf using a mini applicator.
  • Next apply Crimson ink to another section of each leaf using a mini applicator.
  • Finish covering the leaves with Pumpkin ink using a mini applicator.
  • Apply a very light touch of Pumpkin ink over all three colors to blend them all together and to eliminate the patchwork appearance of the first ink applications.
  • Apply a light touch of Pecan ink to the center and stem of each leaf to add an additional depth of color.
  • Gently form each leaf with your fingers, apply pieces of mounting tape to each and attach them to the card base.

  1. I love how you color the die cuts. Would love some up close tutorials/videos of how you approach coloring different types of images. I have on my wish list to pick up a set or two of the Color Fuse combo packs so I can play!
