Make a GORGEOUS Sunflower – Paper Flower Tutorial!

Yes YOU can make this stunning sunflower – paper flower shading and shaping is not difficult once you know a few of the tips and tricks. Keep reading for a step by step paper flower tutorial because once you’ve mastered these easy steps, you can can make ANY paper bloom. And when you make one as large and lush as this cheerful blossom, you only need one on a card to really make it pop!  For this card I used Rubbernecker’s Rectangle Combo OPC #3, Mixable Flower Stack 5109, Organic Shapeable Daisy (foliage and tiny flowers) and Birthday Wishes.

Framed Sentiment and Card Base

• Use white cardstock to cut the card base and multi section frame.
• Cut the Rectangle Combo frames, remove all the layers from the die and place facedown on your work station.
• Attach the layers together using strips of double stick tape.
• Cut an additional piece of white cardstock for the sentiment. 
• Stamp the sentiment using VersaMark and emboss with super fine gold embossing powder.  PRO TIP:  Super fine embossing powder creates a nice crisp image for sentiments.  Of course you can use regular embossing powder but I find the outcome is a little more clunky and not quite as crisp.
• Line up the frame opening over the sentiment layer and attach it to the back of the frame using mounting tape.
• Apply strips of mounting tape tall the way around to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.

The Sunflower Paper Flower

• Use yellow cardstock to cut three of the same size flowers layers.  I used the largest flower in the die set.
• Apply the Color Fuse Citrus ink to the flower petals with a mini applicator, working from the center with the darker shade and lighten the color as you move out to the end of the petals.

• Use a mini applicator to apply touches of Color Fuse Cinnamon ink to the flower center and a short distance up each petal.

• Place the flower layers face down on the molding pad and form the petals using a large round stylus.

• Turn the flowers face up on the molding pad and gently push down in the center to push the petals up.

• Attach the flower layers together using glossy accents.
• Use brown cardstock to cut the tiny flowers and to punch out a 1/2″ circle.
• Place the tiny flowers and 1/2″ circle on the molding pad.
• Form the circle using the large round stylus, place a small piece of mounting tape to the back of the circle and attach it to the flower center.  PRO TIP:  Popping up the circle in the flower center will create a dome shape with the tiny flowers.
• Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad and form then using a small tipped stylus.
• Use tweezers to pick yup the tiny flowers and use glossy accents to attach them to the domed flower center. 

Finish the Card

• Attach the flower to the frame corner using glossy accents.
• Use green cardstock to cut the foliage sections.
• Tuck the foliage branches under the sunflower and attach using glossy accents.
