Check out the details on this handmade fishing boat card!
People who love to fish LOVE to fish and this handmade fishing boat card is perfect for those people who prefer sea fishing. When I designed my latest collection of dies from Kittie Kraft by Rubbernecker, I made sure to include our sea fishing friends along with those who prefer casting from the shore. I just love all the details and that these elements can be used for loads of ocean themed cards. Leaving the roof section and port holes off the boat allows it to be used as a row boat.
The Frame, Sky, Waves and Clouds
- Cut an aqua 5.50″ x 4.25″card base and two aqua wave sections.
- Use white cardstock to cut a layer for the scene background and apply a blue sky background using blue ink, a cloud stencil and blender brush. Funny Note: Rob, the owner of Rubbernecker said the sky background looked like I was trying to create the “perfect storm”. 😆
- Cut the deckle frame using yellow cardstock.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the cloudy sky layer and attach it to the card base.
- Attach the the back wave layer directly to the scene base using ATG adhesive.
- Apply strips of mounting tape around the back of the frame.
- Attach the front wave to the mounting tape.
- Apply a second layer of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base. Pro Tip: I used double layers of mounting tape for the frame and wave layer to create lots of dimension. The frame isn’t touching the wave and the front wave is well separated from the back wave.
- Use white cardstock to cut the cloud layer and attach it to the frame using ATG adhesive.
The Fishing Boat, Seagulls, Sun and Fish
- Cut the fishing boat sections using multiple colors of cardstock, assemble the pieces and attach them together using glossy accents.
- Use yellow cardstock to cut the sun, apply versa and emboss using clear embossing powder.
- Apply mounting tape to the back of the sun and attach it to the card base.
- Cut the fish using white cardstock and apply green and orange ink using a mini applicator.
- Apply versa to the fish and emboss with clear embossing powder. Pro Tip: Embossing an ink colored image with clear embossing powder brightens and intensifies the color.
- Attach two jumping fish to the waves and one on the fishing hook using tiny pop dots
- Use white cardstock to cut the seagulls, apply light gray ink to the wings using a mini applicator and attach them to the sky and clouds using tiny pop dots.
