Die Cut Holly Leaves Make A Wreath For a Card

Put lots of die cut holly leaves together for a simple, gorgeous card!

I used new die cut holly leaves and a new cover plate die cut and nothing else but shaping tools and adhesive to make this pretty holiday card. When you have a die that cuts and adds details like the new Holly #2 set from my own line with Rubbernecker, you can afford to let the die cuts stand on their own!

The Decorative Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to to cut an A2 sized card base, score at 4.25″ and fold.  Pro Tip: Running a Teflon bone folder over the fold of the card base will sharpen the crease and will not leave a shine like other bone folder do.
  • Cut two decorative covers using white and red cardstock.
  • Apply Gina K Connect Glue to the back of the white cover, line it up slightly off center over the red cover and attach.  Pro Tip:  Trim the right border of the red cover frame so it wouldn’t show under the white cover.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape all the way around the frame.
  • Attach two large pieces of mounting tape on the center back of the cover where the wreath will be attached.  Pro Tip:  The large pieces of mounting tape will not only hold the wreath in place but it will also hold  the cover cut away from the card base.
  • Remove mounting tape backing, line the cover frames over the card base and attach.

Die Cut Holly Leaves

  • Use green cardstock to cut several sections of holly leaves.
  • Gently form each holly leaf with your fingers to add dimension.
  • Use two graduated circle dies to cut a round wreath base using green cardstock. Pro Tip:  Create a wreath base with at least a 1/4″ border to be substantial enough to glue the holly to.
  • Begin attaching the holly leaves to the wreath base using glossy accents.
    • Attach one leaf pointing straight up.
    • Adhere the next leaf pointing left.
    • Attach the next leaf pointing right.
    • Continue this pattern all the way around the base until it is fully covered.

The Holly Berries

  • Use red cardstock to cut several sections of the holly berries.
  • Place the holly berries face down on the molding pad and form them using a large round stylus.
  • Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of each holly berry.
  • Attach the berry clusters all the way around the wreath.
  • Apply glossy accents all the way around the back of the wreath and attach it to the cover die where the two sections of mounting tape are.

    • Hi Kittie! I’ve followed you at least 10 yrs if not 12. I’ve made several of your cards over the yrs.
I even made a board for your cards on my Pinterest site.

I LOVE this one and the Christmas truck as well as the Fall truck with the pumpkins.
This card and the last two I mentioned are what I’m making this holiday season.
Thank you. Stay safe and healthy.
Many blessings to you and yours.
