These handmade fall greeting cards are perfect for any occasion and truly fun to make!
The Fall is such an iconic season and when you create handmade fall greeting cards for all the different card-sending occasions, you get to put your own twist on every one. You all know I love flowers – I even designed a line of my own dies to make them – and I think flowers in fall colors are just as gorgeous as their spring and summer counterparts. So you know I had to make a card with them! The addition of the pumpkins really anchors this card to the fall season and they are the perfect size to complement this arrangement.
The Card Base and Frame
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and a 5.50″ x 4.25″ white layer.
- Emboss the white layer using the Taylored Expressions Garden Party folder.
- Use an an oval die to out a frame opening on the embossed layer.
- Use a scallop die to cut and oval shape using white cardstock.
- Cut the frame opening in the scalloped oval using one size smaller oval die.
- Secure the embossed frame layer to the card base. Pro Tip: I find that securing the base with tape helps to keep it secure while lining up and attaching the frame.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame.
- Line the frame up over the embossed layer and attach.
- Attach strips of mounting tape to the back of the embossed frame layer.
- Place a few pieces around the border of the frame to keep it from collapsing flat on the card base.
- Line up the card base over the embossed layer and attach.
The Fall Flowers and Pumpkins
- Use yellow cardstock to cut the yellow flowers and pumpkins and white cardstock to cut the red flowers.
- Cut the flower stems using green cardstock.
- Use mini applicators to apply light orange and dark orange ink to color the flowers and pumpkins. Pro Tip: Using bright yellow cardstock when coloring and shading orange flowers and pumpkins allows the yellow show through for highlights.
- Color the white flowers using red and darker red ink.
- Color the flower centers using brown ink and a mini applicator.
- Assemble the flower and stem sections using glossy accents. Check out the first video on my How to Make Paper Flowers Step by Step post to see how I assemble these flowers.
Arrange the Fall Flower Bouquet
- Use green cardstock to cut a few sets of the foliage.
- Use woodgrain cardstock to cut the top section of the tree and color with brown ink.
- Begin the arrangement but attaching the flower stems together using glossy accents.
- Fill in the arrangement by attaching foliage branches and tree branches and attach using glossy accents. Check out the second video on my How to Make Paper Flowers Step by Step to see how I arrange and attach flowers and stems to create a bouquet.
Complete the Card
- Trim off the bottom stems off the bouquet.
- Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the wreath and attach to the card base inside the frame opening.
- Round the pumpkins gently with your fingers.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the pumpkins and attach to the frame.
- Apply shimmer to the flowers and pumpkins using a shimmer pen. This step is not necessary but I like to see the sparkle.
I love how the beautiful fall colors show against the all white background. Check out this Fall Card that I made a couple weeks ago to for more fall inspiration.
