Another Mini Slimline Card With Flowers

A different take on a mini slimline card with flowers – so pretty!

Now, you all KNEW I was making another mini slimline card with flowers because you know that’s my passion, right? I decided to make a tiny nosegay out of some die cut blossoms – and I am sharing ALL the steps – and pop it over a simple layered background that gets all that pretty detail out of nothing more than a mini slimline cover die cut layered over colored card stock. The little frame helps contain the flowers and anchors them to the card. Want to try one out?

Card Base, Cover and Frame

  • Use white cardstock to cut a 6,00″ x 7.00″ layer and score in the center to create a 6.00″ x 3.50″ card base.
  • Cut a pink 5.75″ x 3.25″ layer, line it up over the card base and attach  using ATG adhesive.
  • Use white cardstock to cut the Mini Slimline Quilted Cover and the scalloped frame made using the Rectangle Combo #3.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back borders of the cover and attach it directly over the pink card base.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.

Form and Attach Flowers and Stems

If you are new to my blog you may want to check out my How to Make Paper Flowers Step by Step post with two videos showing how to assemble the flowers and how to create a paper flower bouquet.

  • Use pink and green cardstock to cut the Classic Flower and Stems and Branches and Leaves.
  • Apply touches of Posey ink to the flower sections using a mini applicator to add brightness.
  • Place flowers face down on a molding pad and roll over the [petals with a large round stylus.
  • Turn them face up and push down in the center to draw the rounded petals up.
  • Assemble the flower sections and attach them to the stems using glossy accents.

floral dies, new mini slimline dies and a pretty frame die - all from Rubbernecker - were used to make this mini slimline card with flowers

Bouquet

  • Begin creating the bouquet by attaching the flower stems together using glossy accents.
  • Attach greenery sections to the back of the flowers using glossy accents to fill in the back of the bouquet.
  • Attach smaller leaf sections to the front of the flowers using glossy accents to fill in and soften the front of the bouquet.
  • Apply glossy accents to a few extra stems and attach them to the bottom of the bouquet.
  • Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the bouquet and attach it inside the frame.
  • Apply tiny pop dots to the back of three small small circles and attach them in the center of the flowers.

Sentiment and Multi Loop Bow

  • Cut a .75″ x 3.00″ piece of white cardstock.
  • Use Nocturne ink to stamp the With Love sentiment from the Kittie Says Phrases #1 set.
  • Apply clear embossing powder to the sentiment and heat with a heat gun.
  • Cut the sentiment strip to create an arrow point on the front end, shorten enough on the back end to tuck into the bouquet and attach using glossy accents. Pro Tip:  Although I used glossy accents to attach the end I also added a tiny piece of mounting tape to the back of the tag to hold it up away from the base.
  • Create a white organza multi loop bow and attach to the bouquet using a few glue dots.  Pro Tip:  Check out my Multi Loop Bow video tutorial to see how I make my bows.

I am 99% sure this won’t be the last mini slimline card with flowers you see me make but as I said, I just LOVE making paper flowers from die cuts because they can be shaded and shaped to look so realistic using really easy touches. And I am just LOVING the mini slimline card size! I hope you got a chance to snap up some of the dies and when you get them, try out some of the cards I am sharing.

Your bow making tutorial was great– I still can’t make them as beautifully as you do, but I keep trying 🙂
