Making this embossed polka dot flower card is easier than it looks – come get the details!
I love adding texture to my projects and often do that through layering and shaping. I added a little something something to today’s embossed polka dot flower card and it is as easy as running paper through your machine with an embossing folder! I used the Rubbernecker Stackable Flowers and Leaves #1 and Tiny Flowers #2 for the pretty blossoms, their Branches and Leaves set for the foliage and their Nested Loops die set for that one cut gorgeous layer. Let me show you the steps to make this card.
Card base and Nested Loops Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the middle size of the Nested Loops.
- Cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ yellow layer and emboss it using a polka dot embossing folder. Note: I used my retired Cuttlebug folder.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the embossed yellow layer and attach it to the card base.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the loops layer and attach it to the card base.
The 3D Die Cut Paper Flower
- Emboss a white layer of cardstock using the polka dot folder.
- Cut the Stackable Flowers and Leaves #1 flower sections from the embossed layer.
- Place the flower layers face down on the molding pad and gently push down on each petal with a large round stylus to add a touch of dimension. Pro Tip: I didn’t want to push the stylus so hard that it would remove the embossed dots.
- Place the flower sections face up on the molding pad and push down in the centers using a small tipped stylus to push the petals up.
- Attach the flower layers together using glossy accents. Pro Tip: Make sure to offset each layer for a more natural looking flower.
- Apply glossy accents to the back of the large flower and attach it to the corner of the loops layer.
The Die Cut Foliage and Tiny Flowers
- Use white cardstock to cut the Branches and Leaves foliage.
- Tuck the foliage sections on the flower and attach in place using flossy accents. Pro Tip: Gently lift the flower petal with your fingers, slip the foliage branch under the flower and then push down with your paper piercer or tweezers to secure in place.
- Cut the Tiny Flowers #2 using yellow cardstock.
- Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad and push up in the centers using a small tipped stylus.
- Attach one tiny flower to the large flower center and several to the branches using glossy accents.
- Finish all the tiny flowers by attaching white tiny die cut circle centers using glossy accents. Pro Tip: I save all my negative white circles that are cut when I use eyelet dies. They come din really handy to use as flower centers.
