If you are a fan of his beautiful fabrics, you will love today’s handmade William Morris style card!
I didn’t set out to create a handmade William Morris style card but this paper pattern from the Rubbernecker Modern Floral 6×6 Paper Pad was so evocative of those beautiful floral designs, I decided to accent it with just some pretty white die cut details made with their Stackable Flowers and Leaves #3, Fancy Decorative Nested and Branches and Leaves. I added just a touch of one of the accents colors in the fabric, I mean paper!, and I think it’s just so pretty! Would you like the details?
Card Base and Fancy Decorative Nested Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the middle size Fancy Decorative Nested layer.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of the William Morris style paper from the Modern Floral 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the designer paper layer and attach it to the card base.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the decorative layer and attach it to the card base.
The Die Cut Flowers and Foliage
- Use white and bright blue cardstock to cut the Stackable Flowers and Leaves #3 sections.
- Place the flower sections face down on the molding pad and form the petals by pushing down on each individual petal.
- Place the flower sections face up on the molding pad and push down in the centers using a small tipped stylus.
- Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents, making sure to offset each section for a more natural looking flower. Note: Initially I had intended for the flowers to be all white but decided the blue centers would pull out the blue from the background paper. You can see the little white flower centers peeking out from behind the blue.
- Finish the flowers by attaching white pearls to the centers.
- Use white cardstock to cut the Branches and Leaves foliage.
- Tuck the foliage sections on the flower and attach in place using flossy accents. Pro Tip: Gently lift the flower petal with your fingers, slip the foliage branch under the flower and then push down with your paper piercer or tweezers to secure in place.
Making cards with these Rubbernecker Paper Pads is a different kind of delight because you can just accent with a few things and have something truly gorgeous. Here’s what I used today to make this card:
