Put a spring die cut house on a card and you’ve got something special for lots of occasions!
I love playing house “paper dolls” with the Rubbernecker Tabbed House die set and today I added this spring die cut house on a card and I think it’s just so fresh and adorable! It’s the perfect card for a new homeowner, a new baby’s arrival, a welcome home to snowbirds and even for more general greetings like Happy Spring or just a nice hello. I punched up the basic house using the Spring House Accessories, Knob Top Fence, Slimline Grass, Small Birds, Tiny Flower Buds and Tiny Leaves #2 for all the little details. I find these kinds of cards fun because the house just comes together so easily and then you can “dress it up” any way you like!
Take a peek and then I can share the details.
Card Base and Sky Background
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer.
- Apply Beachside ink to the white layer using a blender brush.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the sky background layer and attach it to the card base.
House Base Parts
To make my Tabbed House I assembled the house base parts that include house, gable, roof, windows, door, brick and porch columns and steps. Here is a shot of all the parts and pieces you will get with this die set – you can see how you can create endless custom looks with all these different elements!
- Use blue cardstock to cut the house base and gable sections.
- Cut the windows, door, columns, railing and brick using white cardstock.
- Color the brick sections using mini applicators and Color Fuse Crimson, Pumpkin and Pecan ink. Pro Tip: I applied a light layer of red and orange to the parts, applied touches of brown to build different shades and then went over them again with red for a brick red color. Sadly the different shades don’t show up well in the pictures but honestly, they look JUST like real brick!
- Attach the brick and wood porch columns together using Connect glue.
- Use Connect glue to attach the porch side roof and gable using to the porch columns.
- Attach the brick porch foundation and porch columns and porch side roof together using double stick tape.
- Apply mounting tape pieces to the back of the gable, porch columns and foundation and attach them to the house base. Pro Tip: By assembling the porch sections together first allows you to see exactly where they fit on the house.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back top section of the house and glossy accents to the back lower section of the house and attach it to the card base. Pro Tip: The mounting Tape on the back of the roof section will hold the house away from the base for dimension. The bottom being attached with glossy accents will attach it flat to the base to create less bulk behind the grass.
Tree, Grass and Fence
- Use Kraft cardstock to cut the tree and apply Pecan ink using a wet baby wipe.
- Cut the small leaves using green cardstock and attach them to the tree using glossy accents.
- Use white cardstock to cut the fence sections, trim them to fit on both sides of the house and attach them using small pieces of mounting tape.
- Cut the grass section using green cardstock. trim to fit across the scene and attach it to the base using a strip of mounting tape.
- Tuck the tree trunk in behind the grass and attach it to the card base using strips of mounting tape.
Spring Accessories For the Die Cut House
- Cut the cats and porch containers using white cardstock.
- Apply markings to the two additional white cats using a black marker.
- Color one cat and the containers totally black using a black marker.
- Cut tiny flower buds and tiny leaf sections using pink, yellow, purple and green cardstock.
- Attach greenery and flowers to the back of the containers using glossy accents and attach them to the porch glossy accents.
- Tuck tiny leaf and flower sections in behind the grass and attach them using glossy accents.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the cats and attach them to the house window and grass.
- Finish by attaching three small birds to the scene using tiny pieces of mounting tape.

You can see other cards I’ve made with this basic house set here. To be honest, I never really thought about how many ways you can use a spring die cut house on a card but now that I’ve made this one, I am picturing more versions for more occasions. What would you send this card for? I’d love to know!
Kittie,
I adore this card. The details are amazing. But then again, so are all your cards!!!!
Thank you so much, Tammy! It was such a fun card to make.
