You have to see this card with red flowers against gray and white lattice paper – it’s SO striking!
I was playing around with more of the papers from Rubbernecker’s Modern Floral 6×6 Paper Pad and came up with this design and I am really loving it! This card with red flowers against gray and white in that lattice pattern is just so elegant and the red and green just POP. With my directions below, I am confidant that you can reproduce these dimensional flowers made with the Stackable Flowers and Leaves #1 and Large Ivy dies at home and then pop on any greeting you like – mine is from my own Kittie Says Friends set. (The white scalloped layer was made using the retired Nested Scallop Rectangle set but you can swap that out for any decorative edged die you like.)
Card Base and Sentiment Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and scalloped layer.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ lattice layer from the Modern Floral 6×6 Paper Pad and attach it to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Secure the scalloped layer in the MISTI and stamp the sentiment using Nocturne ink.
- Use red cardstock to cut a layer for the sentiment layer and attach them together using ATG adhesive.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
Dimensional Die Cut Flowers
- Use red cardstock to cut sections of the Stackable Flowers and Leaves #1 set.
- Place the flower sections face down on the molding pad and roll over each petal using a large round stylus.
- Turn the flower sections face up and push down in the center using a small tipped round stylus.
- Attach two of the largest flower sections together using glossy accents and making sure to offset the petals. Pro Tip: I create a full looking flower base by attaching two of the large sections together.
- Finish the flower by attaching the two additional flower sections in place using glossy accents. Note: I used the exact same steps to create the smaller flower. The only difference is that I layered three of the mid size flower sections together for the base and one section of the smallest section to form the flower.
- Attach a tiny white circle in the center of each flower using glossy accents.
Take a look at my Paper Flower Shaping Video Tutorial post to see how I shape the flowers and attach the sections together to create natural looking flowers.
Foliage and Arrangements
- Cut the leaves from the set and Large Ivy using green cardstock.
- Create dimension by gently forming the large leaves and the tiny ivy leaves using your fingers.
- Use a generous amount of glossy accents to attach the two flowers to the corners of the sentiment layer. Pro Tip: Use your paper piercer or tweezers to slip under the largest petals to push down and secure the flower in place while the glue dries.
- Tuck the large leaves under the flowers and attach using glossy accents.
- Trim the ivy sections, tuck them in between the flower and leaves and attach using glossy accents.
There’s something about bold bright colors against gray the two shades of this neutral that make up that lattice pattern are the perfect foil for any color blossom in a fresh color. I can see this with pinks, purples, yellows and even blues. I almost wish I could get a whole pad of just that lattice! Here’s what I used today:
