How just plain adorable is this handmade beach shack card, ready for a ton of fun in the sun?
I am getting such a kick out of all the great Shed Add-On dies that Rubbernecker has created to go with their Shed die set. When I saw the Shed Beach Shack Add On I could see the color scheme right away in my mind for my own version of this handmade beach shack card. In aqua and peach, accessorized with some Palm Trees and Sand Toys on sands made using their Deckle Hills die set. I pretty much want to move in with my cooler full of icy drinks, my sun hat and get ready to bask!
Aren’t those details just so delicious? I love how Rubbernecker designs all the details that create that themed vibe that adds so much character to these little structures. It’s so inspiring to have a whole collection of these little elements that you can use to completely customize your visions. Let me share with you how I made this one and then you can riff off the making to create your own version.
Card Base and Sandy Beach Layers
- Cut an A2 sized card base using white cardstock. Pro Tip: The white background shows off the bright colorful beach shack much better than if I had created a blue cloudy background.
- Use Kraft cardstock and Deckle Hills to cut the two 4.25″ wide sand layers.
- Apply Mocha Color Fuse Ink from Set #3 to the sand layers using a wet baby wipe. Heat dry.
- Use a dotted pattern to the sand using Caramel Color Fuse Ink and small definition stamp. Pro Tip: I used a small sand pattern stamp from my retired Kittie Kits Beach Landscape set. If you don’t have a stamp like this you can create the same look with the tip of a brawn marker or tiny sponge tip blender brush.
- Attach the back sand layer directly to the card base using double stick tape.
- Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the front sand layer and attach it to the card base.
The Shed Beach Shack
- Cut the Shed and Shed Beach Shack add on sections using brightly colored coordinating cardstock.
- Apply connect glue to the roof sections and anchor and attach them to the top of the shed.
- Tuck the inner windows and door section inside the frame and attach them together using double stick tape.
- Attach the window and door to the house using connect glue.
- Attach the porch rail and porch base to the shed using strips of mounting tape.
- Apply connect glue to the stairs and attach to the porch base.
- Apply double stick tape to the bottom back of the shed and a piece of mounting tape to the top back of the house and attach it to the card base.
Palm Trees and Sand Toys
- Use green and Kraft cardstock to cut the Palm Trees sections.
- Apply Pecan Color Fuse Ink to the tree trunks using a mini applicator.
- Attach the palm fronds to the tree trunks using glossy accents.
- Tuck the trees in behind the house and the sand layer and attach in place using thin strips of mounting tape.
- Use coordinating colorful cardstock to cut the Sand Toys.
- Assemble the pieces and attach them together using connect glue.
- Attach them to the sand layer using pieces of mounting tape and glossy accents.
