How to Make Die Cut Frame Christmas Tags

Learn how to make die cut frame Christmas tags with this charming trio – use to tie onto gifts or pop onto a card base!

I love making Christmas tags for my family every year.  I have created so many over the years and thought you might want to check out my Tag Category for more inspiration.  Because they get revisited so frequently, I thought I would make another post that shows how to make die cut frame Christmas tags with little scenes on them. These little projects are so useful at the holidays! You can make one version of each tag per person and sort their gifts that way. You can GIFT the tags themselves to someone as a little holiday treat. You can pop a tag onto a card base for an instant card. You can add a small pocket or coin envelope on the back to hold a gift card, check or cash as a thank you. You can even hang them on the tree as ornaments! There are so many ways to use them and I find them very fun to make.

For all three of the projects today, I used Rubbernecker’s Holiday Tags, Deckle Hills and Greenery #1  dies along with their Nested Rectangle die to cut the tag frame openings. I used the Sizzix Snowfall and Speckles embossing folder but you can use whatever you have in your stash.  I will list the additional dies I used for each variation in the instructions below for that specific tag.

  • Cut a white rectangle sized to fit behind the frame, emboss with the embossing folder and and attach it to the back of the tag frame using double stick tape.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the tag and attach the second red tag to the back to create the base.
  • Cut a Deckle Hills snow layer using white cardstock, trim to fit the tag and attach it to the tag base using a strip of mounting tape.  Note:  I used two snow layers on the Cabin tag.
