Come see how to make this cute handmade scarecrow card with just dies and a gorgeous background paper.
I think scarecrows sometimes get a bad rep – some of them are really creepy! So when I saw the new Cute Scarecrow die set from Rubbernecker, I knew I had to make a cute handmade scarecrow card and give this little fella a chance to star. I used a sheet of the gorgeous designs from their new Festival of Colors 6×6 Paper Pad and added some details with their Sunflowers, Picket Fence, Small Birds, and Classic Grass dies. I am telling you, using the papers from that new Festival of Colors 6 X 6 Paper Pad is a dream. I don’t even have to think about the background of the cards I am making using them! Today’s card joins this one and this one in cards that were so much easier to create using this versatile collection of papers.
Let me share my steps for the making so you can recreate this card or use the different elements in your own design.
Card Base, Fence and Grass
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of Festival of Colors 6×6 Paper Pad and attach it to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Use white cardstock to cut two Picket Fence sections and attach them together using connect glue.
- Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the top back picket sections, double stick tape to the back bottom section and attach it to the card base.
- Cut a Classic Grass section using green cardstock.
- Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the grass section and attach it to the card base.
Cute Scarecrow and Cheerful Sunflowers
- Cut the Cute Scarecrow sections using multiple fall colors of cardstock that match the designer paper background.
- Assemble the pieces and attach them together using connect glue.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the scarecrow, tuck it in behind the grass and attach to the card base. Note: I added a touch of glossy accents to the back bottom of the broom handle to secure it in place.
- Cut the Sunflowers using yellow and green cardstock.
- Attach two layers of sunflowers together for each flower using glossy accents.
- Apply glossy to the back of the sunflowers and attach them to the stems.
- Use a mini applicator to lightly apply touches of Color Fuse Citrus ink to the sunflower petals.
- Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the sunflowers, tuck them in behind the grass and attach to the fence and card base.
- Finish the scene by cutting Small Birds using black cardstock and attaching them to the sky area and grass using small pieces of mounting tape.

Lovely. The 6×6 paper is a perfect backdrop for your scene.
