Come see another card made with the gorgeous new Rubbernecker Festival of Colors Paper Pad!
This pattern from the new Rubbernecker Festival of Colors Paper Pad is SO perfect for this Fall card. I love these patterns because they really set the theme and tone of a project and all you have to do is make the little elements you love and you will end up with something spectacular! For this card, I used this sheet from the new and VERY hot Festival of Colors 6×6 Paper Pad, along with Rubbernecker’s Leaf Trio, Branches and Leaves, Nested Scallop with Half Holes dies and their Splatter Leaves stamp set for the sentiment.
Here’s how I made this card including my tips for making those leaves look like the expensive enamel elements. Hint – they are JUST paper and embossing powder!
Card Base and Sentiment
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer from the new Festival of Colors 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the designer paper and attach it to the card base.
- Cut the third size die from the Nested Rectangle with Half Holes using white cardstock.
- Secure the scallop layer and Splatter Leaves sentiment stamp in the MISTI, apply Versafine Clair Acorn ink and stamp the sentiment.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the scalloped sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
The Gorgeous Die Cut Leaves and Foliage
I wanted to color the leaves to mimic the colors of the designer paper. They are not as bright as I usually color fall leaves but I love how they turned out. I added the green branches to soften the arrangement. Check out my How To Make Fall Leaf Die Cuts Look Real post if you would like to see step by step photos of my coloring technique. The leaves in the post were colored with much brighter colors but the process is the same.
- Use white cardstock to cut two sets of the Leaf Trio and Branches and Leaves.
- Color the leaves and branches using Color Fuse Ink sets 1, 2, 3,and 10 and mini applicators:
- Apply a light layer of Mocha over the maple leaves using a mini applicator and then apply Cinnamon to enhance the color.
- Use Autumn ink to apply a base layer to two of the oak leaves and then apply touches of Moss ink along the veins of the leaves.
- Apply Mango ink to the other two oak leaves and then apply touches of Citrus ink to the veins of the leaf veins.
- Apply Moss ink to the branches.
- To create that gorgeous glossy enamel look, apply VersaMark to the leaves and branches and emboss with super fine clear embossing powder. Pro Tip: Super fine embossing powder creates a much smoother cover and creates that expensive enamel look.
- Arrange and attach the leaves on the corner of the sentiment layer using glossy accents.
- Begin attach the two large maples leaves.
- Attach two oak leaves directly to the male leaves using glossy accents. Pro Tip: Adhesives don’t stick well to embossed cardstock so you will need to apply more pressure and hold the pieces in place longer than you would normally need to. Pro Tip: Glossy accents is my go to liquid adhesive for all of my projects.
- Tuck the additional leaves and branches under the maple leaves and attach using glossy accents.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like this card looks like a LOT more work went into it than it actually took. These little tricks and tips that I have picked up and share with you are such fun ways to level up the look of some otherwise basic elements.
