Gorgeous Handmade Black and White Monochromatic Card!

Check out how elegant this handmade black and white monochromatic card is – so easy to make and just beautiful!

Even I am slightly surprised by how sophisticated and elegant this handmade black and white monochromatic card turned out! There’s something so understated about a black and white card and a monochromatic design allows your main feature to really stand out. Here it’s the sentiment that truly says it all. I also used their Nested Rectangle with Square Holes and Mixable Flower Stack 5109D dies, and their brand new Freehand Frame Set and Floral Monochrome 6×6 Paper Pad.

A handmade black and white monochromatic card with a beautiful floral patterned paper as a background with crisp embellishments made with dies.

Let me share the easy steps so you can make one of these beautiful cards.

Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer from the Floral Monochrome 6×6 Paper Pad.
  • Attach the designer paper layer to the card base using double stick tape.

Sentiment and Flower

  • Use white cardstock to cut a layer using a die from the Nested Rectangle with Square Holes.
  • Secure the rectangle layer and the sentiment from the Freehand Frame Set in the MISIT and stamp the sentiment using Nocturne ink.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the rectangle layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Use white cardstock to cut four layers of the smallest flower from the Mixable Flower Stack and black cardstock to cut two small leaves.
  • Place the flower layers face up on the molding pad and push down in the centers using a tiny tipped stylus.
  • Attach the flower layers together using glossy accents and making sure to offset each layer for a natural looking flower.
  • Attach the black leaves and flower to the sentiment layer using glossy accents.
  • Place a 1/8″ circle in the flower center and attach using glossy accents.

Here are the goodies from Brass and Bliss – still sold through the Rubbernecker store – I used for this project:

Now I have an EPIC suggestion! If you aren’t a fan of the look of what I think is a really pretty handmade black and white monochromatic card……..(and I know not everyone will be!)……..use your markers to add some color highlights to the paper! The Paper Pads from Brass and Bliss are thick enough and have the right finish to be colorable and you can customize every piece in this collection using whatever your favorite coloring medium might be. There’s your handy dandy crafting tip for the day!
