A Sweet Bouquet of Hearts Handmade Card

Come see how to make this charming bouquet of hearts handmade card and think about how you’d make it all yours!

The other day I had a whole bunch of little heart die cuts on my table and I pictured them all together as little flowers. After a little more playing around, I put together this bouquet of hearts handmade card and I just LOVE how it turned out! One of the best things about this particular design is that it is endlessly adaptable. You can use any patterned paper you like, pull your heart colors from that and create a totally custom look. Or you can skip the patterned paper, use hearts in any color story you like and even change the sizes and have a whole new look. It’s all what you you see in your mind’s eye!

To make this card I used Brass & Bliss’ Nested Rectangle Scallop with Holes, Stacked Hearts, and Sunflowers (for the stems) dies, my own Kittie Says Phrases #1 stamp set for the sentiment and their new gorgeous Heart Strings 6×6 Paper Pad in the background. If you haven’t checked this new paper collection out yet, you are missing out – the designs are stunning!

Let me take you through the steps so you can see where you might want to make your own changes for your own version of this sweet card.

Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and a layer cut with the smallest die from the Nested Rectangle Scallop with Holes.
  • Cut a 5.50″ x 5.25″ layer using red cardstock.
  • Apply strips of double stick to the back of the red layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Use a piece of the Heart Strings 6×6 Paper Pad to cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the decorative heart layer and attach it to the red card base.
  • Apply strips if mounting tape to the back of the scalloped layer and attach it to the card base.

Heart decorated patterned paper is the perfect background for this bouquet of hearts handmade card for Valentine's Day or any other love-sending occasion.

The Bouquet of Hearts

  • Cut the Stacked Hearts using red, yellow and lavender cardstock that  coordinate with the designer paper.
  • Use green cardstock to cut several stems from the Sunflowers set.
  • Attach the hearts to the stems using glossy accents.
  • Begin attaching the heart stems together with glossy accents to create the bouquet.  Note:   Check out my Paper Flower Bouquet Video on YouTube to see how I billed the bouquet.  The flowers are different but you get to see how easy the process is.
  • Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the bouquet stems and attach it to the scalloped layer.

Multi Loop Bow and Sentiment

  • Create a white multi loop bow using organza ribbon and attach it to the bouquet using glue dots.  Note:  Check out my Multi Loop Bow Video on YouTube to see how I crate my bows.
  • Cut a thin strips of white cardstock for the sentiment.
  • Use the scalloped die to cut the strip to match the scalloped layer.
  • Secure the strip and stamp in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.  Pro Tip:  I only wanted to use the Love word so I blocked off the With part of the stamp with tape, applied the ink, removed the tape and stamped.
  • Trim the end off the sentiment layer, tuck it under the bow and attach using a piece of mounting tape.
