This super cute cupcake birthday card idea comes together so fast and can be changed up to send to anyone!
You won’t believe how many ways you can end up using this cute cupcake birthday card idea for just about anyone! By changing just the background paper and the colors of the die cuts you use to make your cupcake, you can create any mood or theme on a card and it will always be incredibly fast and easy. I love having dies like these Brass and Bliss Cupcake dies because with a design idea like this one, I am never without a go-to card, even at the last minute. I used their Nested Loops die set for a quick layer and a fun sentiment from their Dessert Set. The background was made using the It’s Party Time 6×6 Paper Pad.
Check out the easy steps and you can see how easy it will be to substitute the patters and colors you want to use. The variations are endless!
Card Base and Sentiment Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base. Pro Tip: I like to use white cardstock for my card base so I can easily stamp a sentiment inside.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ bright pink layer and a 5.25″ x 4.00″ piece of It’s Party Time designer paper.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the pink layer and the designer paper.
- Attach the layers to the card base.
- Use white cardstock to cut the Nested Loops layer, secure it and the Dessert Set sentiment in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
Die Cut Cupcake
- Use white, bright pink, brown, red and green cardstock to cut the cupcake sections.
- Use glossy accents to attach the pink sections to the white cupcake holder.
- Attach the brown(chocolate) cake section to the back of the cupcake holder using a rolled up rope of double stick tape. Pro Tip: The rope of tape is not as thick as mounting tape and allows there to be just a small separation between the two sections.
- Run the frosting section through a wave crimper to create ripples and dimension.
- Attach the frosting to the cake using a rope of double stick tape.
- Finish the cupcake by adding white sprinkles and a red cherry on top.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the cupcake and attach it to the sentiment layer.
