Today’s quick and easy handmade friendship card is truly SO fast to make and can be done in every color you can imagine!
I love semi-monochromatic cards – there’s something very peaceful and elegant about them and they let the message really pop. This very quick and easy handmade friendship card can be made in every color you have in your stash and with a simple sentiment swap, can serve as a beautiful go-to for any occasion. In softer colors, it could even be a lovely sympathy card. I used so few things on this card, too, so it’s an excellent budget stretcher! Brass & Bliss’ Open Flower #1 die creates the focal element, their Nested Rectangle with Square Holes die set serves up those beautiful layers, their Small Flowers #4 die adds a touch of embellishment and my own Kittie Says Friends stamp set available through them provides the sentiment.
You don’t really need instructions for this card but I will share them for the newer folks who are joining us today.
Card Base and Nested Layers
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and purple cardstock to cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer. Pro Tip: I like to use white cardstock for my card base so I can easily stamp an sentiment inside for the occasion.
- Attach the purple layer to the card base using double stick tape.
- Use white cardstock to cut the two Nested Rectangle with Square Holes layers.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the larger layer and attach it to the card base.
- Secure the smaller layer and the Kittie Says Friends sentiment in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.
- Set this layer aside.
Assemble the Die Cut Flowers
- Use green and purple cardstock to cut the Open Flower #1 sections.
- Apply Connect glue to the back of the flower sections.
- Line up the green flower section over the purple layer and attach them together.
- Attach the flower stems to the white layer using pieces of mounting tape to the back of the flowers and rolled double stick tape to the stems.
- Use purple cardstock to cut the Tiny Flowers #4, place them face up on the molding pad and gently push down in the centers using a small tipped stylus to add dimension.
- Attach the flowers to the stems using glossy accents.
- Use glossy accents to attach tiny white circles to the flower centers. Pro Tip: I save all my negative white circles from cutting eyelet dies to use for flowers centers, falling snow, etc.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back outer sides of the sentiment layer and attach to the base.
Here are the Brass and Bliss products I used to make the card.
