This handmade Valentine card is loaded with details and thanks to the dies used, it’s way easier than it looks!
To be honest, I didn’t set out to create a handmade Valentine card but when I saw this adorable heart paper in the new Brass & Bliss Heart Strings 6×6 Paper Pad, I decided I had to play with it. I love the ornate look of that beautiful layer made with their also-new Rose Border die set against the playful hearts and only needed to add a single blossom made with 5508-01D Stackable Flowers and Leaves die as the accent. I used one tiny heart from the Heart Borders set for the flower center.
Let me share the making of this handmade Valentine card with you and then you can use your imagination to see how you might adapt this card to your own vision. It truly is easy and I’ve included some flower making detail photos so you can see just how easy it is!
Card Base and Rose Border
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer using red cardstock.
- Use a piece of Heart Strings Paper Pad paper to cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the red layer and attach it to the card base.
- Use double stick tape to attach the designer paper layer to the red base.
- Cut the Rose Border Using red cardstock to create the decorative layer. Note: I left about an inch along the top of the layer.
- Apply double stick tape to the top back of the border layer and tiny pop dots to several key spots to the decorative sections.
- Line the border layer up and attach to the card base.
Die Cut Flower and Leaves
- Use white and green cardstock to cut the Stackable Flowers and Leaves sections.
- Use needle nose pliers to form the petals. The pictures below are of the same flower that has been colored; I wanted to use these so you could see how this flower can be customized for so many looks.
- Place the flower sections on the molding pad and push down in the centers with a round stylus to push the petals up.
- Apply glossy accents to the flower centers.
- Attach the flower centers together making sure to offset each layer for a natural looking flower.
- Attach the two leaves to the border layer using glossy accents.
- Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the flower and attach it over the top of the leaves.
- Finish by attaching a tiny heart from the Heart Borders set to the flower center using glossy accents.
