Check out this cute version of a window die cut card idea – add anything you like to your own scene through the window!
I have shared more than one window die cut card idea here on my blog – it’s one of my favorite types of scene cards to make. Usually, I make a card where we are peeking inside a space from outside and today I’ve changed things up and we are looking outside. I love the little rainbow in the sky bringing some post-rain cheer and coordinated the colors of the tiny paper flowers in the window to make it all cohesive.
Thanks to the Rainbow and Clouds, Window Four Pains, Rectangle Combo OPC #4, Nested Rectangle Scallop with Holes, Flower Stems, and Tiny Flowers #2 dies from Brass and Bliss, this card is a cut, glue and go project and it’s so much easier to make than it looks. I think this would make the perfect card to cheer someone up or to send the message that are better days ahead.
I’d love to share the making of this window die cut card with you so you can make it as is or change it up any way you like.
Card Base, Eyelet Layer and Frame
- Use light blue cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Cut the largest die in the Nested Rectangle Scallop with Holes using white cardstock.
- Use pink cardstock to cut the Rectangle Combo OPC #4 frame.
- Use double stick tape to attach the eyelet layer to the card base.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the pink frame and attach it to the eyelet layer.
The Die Cut Window Scene
- Use white cardstock to cut the Window Four Pains.
- Cut a light blue layer to fit behind the window.
- Use multi colored pastel cardstock and white cardstock to cut the Rainbow and Clouds sections.
- Use the window as a template to see where to attach the rainbow and clouds.
- Attach the rainbow sections using connect glue.
- Attach the upper cloud sections to the rainbow using connect glue. Pro Tip: Attaching the clouds to the rainbow with glue held them flat at the tops but allowed there to be space around the bottoms for a dimensional appearance but that allowed them to fit inside the window opening.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the window and attach it to the blue layer.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the blue layer and attach it inside the frame to the card base.
The Tiny Paper Flowers
- Cut the Tiny Flowers #2 using the four colors of cardstock used for the rainbow sections.
- Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad and push down in the centers using a tiny tipped stylus.
- Use green cardstock to cut several sections of the Flower Stems.
- Attach three flowers to each flower stem using glossy accents.
- Tuck the flowers and stems in behind the window and attach in place using glossy accents.
