A SUPER Cute Handmade Card With Ducks!

Just in time for spring, this super cute handmade card with ducks will make everyone grin from ear to ear!

I could not WAIT to share this super cute handmade card with ducks! I’ve been sitting on this since way before the inaugural Brass and Bliss new product release and it was almost killing me not to be able to post it.

I used their adorable new Spring Ducks and new Gate and Fence dies along with their Classic Grass, Grass #2, Winter Tree, Tiny Flowers #2, Tiny Leaves #2, and Small Butterflies for all the pretty details. I mean, how ADORABLE are those ducks? And I am absolutely loving the new Gate and Fence so I can add this classic motif to even more scenes.

A super cute handmade card with ducks created with brand new dies from Brass and Bliss.

Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer using white cardstock.  Pro Tip:  I always cut my layer a little larger than the 5.25″ x 4.00″ so I can cut off the dark ink edges that form when applying ink with the brush.  Then I trim to the correct size.
  • Apply Color Fuse Beachside ink using a large blending brush to create the sky background.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the sky layer and attach it to the card base.

Die Cut Tree, Leaves and Flowers

  • Use Kraft cardstock to cut the Winter Tree.
  • Apply Color Fuse Caramel ink to the tree using a wet baby wipe and heat dry.  Pro Tip:  Using a damp baby wipe to apply ink is quick and easy and creates an even layer of ink.  Picture below is showing a different tree but the technique is the same.

Baby Wipe Tree Inking

  • Use green cardstock to cut several sections of the Tiny Leaves #2 and purple cardstock to cut several sections of Tiny Flowers #2.
  • Attach the leaves to the branches using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  Glossy accents is my favorite adhesive because it has a very strong hold.  I live in Florida and our humidity is very high and is not kind to most gluesPro Tip:  I use my reverse tweezers to pick up and attach small die cuts like the flowers and leaves.
  • Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad, push down in the centers using a tiny tipped stylus to add dimension.
  • Attach the tiny flowers to the leaves using glossy accents.
  • Apply rolled up ropes of double stick tape to the back of the tree trunk and some of the branches and tiny pop dots to several key spots behind the leaves.

The New Die Cut Fence and Grass

  • Use green cardstock to cut 2 of the Classic Grass and Grass #2 sections.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of one grass section and attach it to the card base.
  • Use white and black cardstock to cut the fence sections.
  • Attach the gate and fence sections together using glossy accents.
  • Attach the black hardware to the gate using connect glue.  Pro Tip:  I like to use connect glue to attach tiny items like the hardware because it dries clear.
  • Trim two of the fence sections on each side to fit across the front of the card.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the top back of the fence and a few glue dots to the back bottom sections and attach to the card base.  Pro Tip: The mounting tape holds the fence away from the base to add dimension.  Attaching the bottom section flat with glue dots or double stick tape removes bulk for attaching the grass in front of it.
  • Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the second grass section and attach it to the card base.
  • Tuck several sections of the grass sprigs behind the grass and attach using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  The grass sprigs add a touch of whimsy and interest along the grass line and softens the scene.

Those Adorable Die Cut Ducks and Butterflies

  • Cut the Spring Ducks using white, yellow, orange and purple cardstock.
  • Assemble and attach the duck sections together using glossy accents.
  • The hat was attached to the mother duck using a thin rope of double stick tape.
  • Attach the ducks to the scene using glossy accents.
  • Use yellow cardstock to cut the Tiny Butterflies.
  • Attach them to the tree and card base using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  I added tiny gems to the butterflies for a touch of sparkle.  Sadly they don’t show well in the photos.
