Handmade Seaside Card

This handmade seaside card has me longing for a trip to the beach.

If you have been following me for a while you know how much I love making beach cards.  The Tropical Dreams 6×6 Paper Pad designer paper took all the work out of creating the serene water and sky background and let the dies do the rest of the work.

To make this card I used the Tropical Dreams 6×6 Paper Pad, Palm Trees, Deckle Hills, Beach Chairs #2, Sun Moon, Grass #2, Tiny Flowers #2, and  Seagulls

A detailed handmade seaside card made using die cuts and some clever tricks to add texture and dimension.

Card Base and Sand Layer

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer from the Tropical Dreams designer paper.
  • Use a Deckle Hills die to cut the sand layer from the remaining left over from the designer paper.
  • Apply doubles tick tape to the back of the designer paper and attach it to the card base.
  • Adhere a strip of mounting tape to the back of the sand layer and attach it to the card base.

Palm Trees and Beach Chair

  • Use Kraft and green cardstock to cut the palm tree sections.
  • Apply Grass ink to the fronds and Caramel  ink to the tree trunks using Detail Blending Brushes.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the fronds to the trunks.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to to the back of the trees, tuck them in behind the sand layer and attach to the card base.
  • Use navy and white cardstock to cut the Beach Chairs #2, attach the sections together using connect glue.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the chair and attach it to the card base.

Finish the Scene

  • Use yellow cardstock to the Sun, apply yellow stickles, allow it to dry and then attach it to the card base.
  • Cut the Grass using green cardstock, tuck the sections in behind the sand layer and attach using glossy accents.
  • Use yellow cardstock to cut the Tiny Flowers and apply a little Apricot ink to the flower centers with a mini applicator.
  • Place the flowers face up on a molding pad, push down in the centers using a tiny tipped stylus to form and then attach them to the grass sprigs using glossy accents.
  • Use white cardstock to cut the Seagulls, apply a light layer of Chill ink to the wings and attach them to the sky area using small pieces of mounting tape.

I love that I can add all these details with die cuts and not have to get all fussy with them! All that easy-to-add texture also keeps the eye moving, making this card extra inviting. If you want to make this one, here’s what you will want from Brass and Bliss Craft Co:

Something I love about this handmade seaside card is that you really can use it for so many occasions. I love making specific occasion cards but there is a LOT to be said about having a gorgeous card like this one ready to pull out, add a sentiment to and send off.
