See how to make a pop up lighthouse design using a square box card base and die sets and designer paper by Brass and Bliss.
Making this lighthouse card was so fun and I love the red, white and blue color combination with the coordinating designer paper layering. To create my project I used the Lighthouse and Sailboats, Waves, Grass #2, Deckle Hills and Life Upon the Sea 6″x 6″ Paper Pad. The Square Pop Up Box Card was made by The Paper Cut.
Assemble the 3D Pop Up Box Base
- Cut the layering pieces.
- 2 5 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ layers
- 2 3 5/8″ x 2 3/4″ layers
- 4 1 7/8″ x 2 3/4″ layers
- Attach the paper layers to the inside and outside card base using double stick tape.
- Apply 1/2″ double stick tape to the box tab, line it up and secure the box closed.
- Cut the wave sections to fit the front and side tabs and attach the back layer using double stick tape and the front layers with strips of mounting tape.
- Cut the tops of the inner box tabs using a deckle hill die and apply brown ink using a large blending brush.
- Apply 1/2″ double stick tape to the tabs on both sides and insert them inside the box.
Lighthouse and Sailboats
- Cut the lighthouse and sailboats using red, white and blue cardstock.
- Assemble the pieces and attach them together using Nuvo glue.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the lighthouse and attach it to the back box base.
- Tuck the sailboats in behind the waves and attach using small pieces of mounting tape.
- Finish by attaching grass sections to the sand layers using glossy accents.
