Come see how to create texture for your cards using a decorative cover die.

Cover dies have become an essential part of card making and some are perfect to add dimension to the card base.  Today I’m showing a new decorative die from the Brass and Bliss “Sweet Wishes” release that can work as the main focus of that can be used alone to create a fast an easy project.  All new products will be 20% off.

To make my first card I used the Floral Layer Die with Happy Birthday and created a flower using the Build a Bloom Anemones to mimic the cover.

The Cover

• Cut the die using a cardstock of your choice.
• Lay the cover back on the cutting platform, line up the Happy Birthday die and run through again.
• Attach the decorative cover die directly to the card base using Nuvo glue.  It was applied all the way around the back frame and to several key floral spots to make sure the cover stayed perfectly flat when attached.

The Flower

• Cut the flower and leaves using the cardstock of your choice.
• Gently bend and form the flower petals with your fingers to add a touch more natural looking flower.
• Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents.
• Apply glossy accents to the back of the flower and attach it to the base.
• Tuck the leaves under the flower and attach using glossy accents.

Framed Decorative Cover

• Cut the cover and frame using a cardstock of your choice.
• Apply double stick tape to the back of the frame and attach the cover.
• Adhere strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.  Pro Tip:  Add a few small pieces of mounting tape or pop dots to a few key spots on the back of the cover to keep it from collapsing in the center.
• Die cut the birthday sentiment and attach it to the cover using Nuvo glue.
