Lighthouse Pop Up Box Card

Today I’m sharing a lighthouse pop up box card made using dies by Rubbernecker Stamps.  I used the Lighthouse, Boats, Waves and Small Birds.  I used pop up card from The Paper Cut’s A2 Pop Up Box set.  The fun paper is from the Carta Bella Deep Blue Sea 6 x 6 Paper Pad.  This fun pop up box card went together so quickly.  I love the patterned paper and how well it matches the the die cuts images.

Come over to my blog to see how I made this fun lighthouse pop up box card.

  • Attach the paper layers to the card base using double stick tape.
  • Apply double stick tape to the tab, line it up and secure the box closed.
  • Cut the wave sections to fit the tabs included in the kit and attach them with double stick tape.
  • Apply double stick tape to the tabs on both sides and insert them inside the box.
  • Attach wave sections to each of the flaps using double stick tape.

Easter Pop Up Box Card

Good Sunday morning.  Today I’m sharing an Easter pop up box card with lots of flowers, bunnies and ducks.  I have been enjoying trying my hand at creating projects with different folds and card shapes.  I found this Square Pop Up Box set at The Paper Cut.  The set came with pre-scored cards, insert tabs, directions with the layering measurements and envelopes.  This card folds down into a 5.75″ square.   I used the Rubbernecker Stamps Gate and Arbor, Borders #1, Rectangle Combo #3, Bunnies, Ducks, Grass Set, Grass #2Tulip Tops, Tulip Stems, Small Ivy and Tiny Flower Buds.

Come see how I made this Easter Pop Up Box Card.

The Box Base and Layers

  • Use the bone folder to reinforce all the score lines and keep the box while performing the following steps.
  • Cut three eyelet pieces using the Borders #1 and attach them to the edge of the card flaps with double stick tape.
  • Cut the yellow designer paper layering pieces.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of all the layering pieces and attach to the inside back cover and flaps and the outside sections of the box sections.
  • Apply double stick tape to the side insert flap, line the box sides up and attach the two ends together to form the box.
  • Cut grass insert sections, score both ends at 1/2″ in.
  • Fold the grass insert tabs, apply double stick tape to each tab and insert the tabs to the inside of the box.
  • Cut the Grass #2 die out three or four times and attach the individual sprigs to the grass insert layers using glossy accents. These individual sprigs add a more natural looking grass area for the ducks and bunnies.
  • Note:  The kit comes with three inserts for each box.  I used five grass strips instead of three to create a fuller looking grass are in the opening.

Come see how I made this pretty Easter Pop Up Box Card.

The Arbor, Gate and Tulips

  • Cut the arbor and gate using white cardstock and black for the hinges and handle. Cut a second gate section to use on both sides of the arbor.
  • Apply glossy accents to the side tabs of the gate and attach it to the left side of the arbor.  Leave the right side unattached.
  • Cut the second gate section in half and use the pieces to fill in on both sides of the arbor.  Attach to both sides of the arbor using glossy accents.
  • Cut several small ivy sections and attach them to the top portion of the arbor using glossy accents.
  • Cut the tiny flower buds using pink, aqua, purple and yellow cardstock, form the flowers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad and attach them to the ivy using glossy accents.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the arbor and fence sections and attach to the back of the card base.
  • Cut several tulip stems using green cardstock and tulip tops using pink, purple and yellow cardstock.
  • Apply Worn Lipstick ink to the pink tulips, Shaded Lilac ink  to the purple tulips and Wild Honey ink to the yellow tulips using mini applicators.
  • Attach the tulip tops to the stems using glossy accents and then tuck them in behind the grass layers on both sides of the arbor and attach in place with glossy accents.

Come see how I made this duck and bunny Easter Pop Up Box Card.

The Ducks and Bunnies

  • Cut the bunnies using white cardstock.
  • Apply Antique Linen ink  and Vintage Photo ink to the bodies of the duck using mini applicators.
  • Cut the ducks using yellow cardstock for the babies and white cardstock for the adult ducks.
  • Apply Wild Honey ink to the beaks and feet of the adult ducks.
  • Apply Wild Honey ink to the beaks, feet and the bodies of the baby ducks.
  • Fill in the scene with the bunnies and ducks and attach them to the grass insert sections using glossy accents.
  • Check out my Animal Coloring tutorial if you would like to see how I color the animals using distress ink and mini applicators.

Come see how I made this bright Easter Pop Up Box Card.

The Duck and Bunny Frame

  • Cut the frames out using white cardstock and attach the two sections together using double stick tape.
  • Apply glossy accents to the grass sprigs and attach them to the back of the frame using glossy accents.
  • Attach tiny flowers to three small ivy sections  using glossy accents and attach them to the back of the frame and grass using glossy accents.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the front card flap.
  • Tuck the duck in behind the grass and attach to the flap base using mounting tape.
  • Attach a piece of mounting tape to the back of the bunny and attach to the front of the frame.
  • Attach two ivy leaves and a tiny flower to the neck of the bunny to finish.
  • I purposely left the side card flaps empty so all the attention would be on the front flap and interior box scene.

Come see how I made this colorful Easter Pop Up Box Card.

I had lots of fun making this Easter pop up box card project.  The Gate and Arbor was the inspiration for the box from the beginning but I wasn’t sure what else I would use with it. At first I thought I would use Adirondack chairs in the grass area and fill in around them with flowers.  I scrapped that idea and decided to create a bunny and duck scene that would be perfect for Easter.  I love how it turned out.  I hope you have been inspired to step away from your regular card shape and create a dimensional card with a different fold and shape.  I highly suggest you check out all the different card kits at The Paper Cut.  They offer several different styles of card kits that takes away all the guess work out for the folds and dimensions.  I sure do appreciate you coming by and I hope you have a good day.

Die Cut Lighthouse Step Card

Good Monday morning.  Today I’m sharing a die cut lighthouse step card.  I’ve said many times that I am really challenged when it comes to making cards with different folds and shapes. Well the good news for me is The Paper Cut sells card kits with all different styles and folds. My card was made using the Outer Stair Step Card kit.  My kit is all white cardstock but it is offered in lots of different colors and comes with envelopes.  So if you are like me and want to try your hand playing with different card folds and shapes then you will enjoy shopping this site.  Next, I’m going to try my hand making a Pop -Up Box Card

My project was made using Rubbernecker Stamps Light House, Boats #1, Waves, Deckle Hills, Grass #2 and Small Birds.

Come see how I made this die cut lighthouse step card.

The Step Card Base

  • Apply Tumbled Glass ink to large card base section and tallest step layer using an ink blending tool and cloud stencil.
  • Cut the sand layers using Kraft cardstock and apply Antique Linen ink directly to the layers with the ink pad.
  • Cut the wave layers using aqua cardstock.  One layer to fit all the way across the whole card base and four to fit the step layers.
  • Apply white embossing paste to the wave layers by dabbing it on with your finger and sprinkle on clear glitter and allow to dry.
  • Attach the long wave layer to the card base using double stick tape.
  • Attach the back sand layer to the card base using double stick tape.
  • Attach the front sand layer to the card base using strips of mounting tape.

The Light House and Boats

  • Cut the light house out using red cardstock and again in white cardstock.
  • Attach the sections together using glossy accents and double stick tape.
  • Tuck the light house in behind the sand layer and attach with mounting tape.
  • Cut the boats using red, white and blue cardstock.
  • Attach the pieces together with glossy accents.
  • Tuck the boats in between the wave layers and attach with glossy accents.

Come see how I made this pretty die cut lighthouse step card.

The Seagrass and Flying Birds

  • Cut the grass sprigs using green cardstock and tuck them in behind the sand layers and attach them using glossy accents.
  • Cut the birds using white cardstock and apply Pumice Stone ink to the wings using a mini applicator.
  • Attach one bird to the sky area by the light house using a small piece of mounting tape.
  • Cut two strips of clear acetate sheet and attach the birds using glossy accents.
  • Tuck the strips in behind the sand layer and wave layer using glossy accents.
  • I took a close up photo (above) because the flying birds were hard to see in the main photos.

Come see how I made this sunny die cut lighthouse step card.

I had so much fun making the die cut lighthouse step card.  I think I have to make another one soon.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have been inspired to make a step card of your own.
