Give a Shout Out! Dirty Dozen/Dirty Dozen Alumni Monthly Challenge

Each month all the Dirty Dozen Design Team and Alumni team members come together to participate in a challenge.  Jami comes up with a challenge each month and posts it far enough in advance that everyone has the opportunity to fit the challenge into their schedule and to obtain necessary images, etc. We are so proud of our Fellow Dirty Girls who have recently designed stamps for various companies – Mona Lisa for Cornish Heritage Farms, mel mel for Gina K, SweetMissDaisy for Whipper Snapper (anyone else I don’t know about?) – let’s give them a special SHOUT OUT in this month’s challenge! Check here to see the challenge gallery.

I have been in awe of Anna Wight’s coloring since the first time I saw her work a few years ago.  She is a fantastic artist and I have learned so much from studying her work. I fell in love with the images she has created for Whipper Snapper Stamps.  She has several hundred images available on their site and now has three full stamps sets available.  I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Anna. I am especially in love with Anna’s farm animals.  I have Billly Goat and Winny the horse and a new favorite-Greta the chicken. Greta is wielding a wooden spoon and is an apron.  She surely should be in a kitchen scene but all I could think of was her keeping all her chicks in line with the wooden spoon while out in the barn yard.  I used Rubbernecker’s chicken coop image, Stampin’ Up!’s chicks and of course, Greta.

I stamped the images with Black Brilliance and heat set.  I used Copic markers to color all the images and to create the tree trunk and ground area.  I used an artist pen to draw in the little wire fence in the background, sprigs of grass and to add texture and bark lines to the tree trunk. I used my fern stamp to create the leaves with Adirondack Dye ink and SU Garden Green. I stamped the Greta image a second time so I could cut out her head feathers and apron to pop up.  I added the gingham ribbon around the waist band of her apron and placed a little bow for the apron ties. I sponged Aqua Adirondack ink for the sky area. This was a wonderful and fun project for me to play with.  It is always a pleasure for me to work with Anna’s images and I always hope I do them justice and make her happy.

  1. WOW Kittie!! This card is SO DARN CUTE!!! What an adorable scene!! The SU chicks add so much to the scene. Wonderful and cheerful colors. As usual, you have raised the bar! I must say again…. I do love the visuals of the supplies used. Are you using Black Brilliance for all your black now?? If so, tell me its advantages. I am not familiar with it.
