Polka Dot Flower Patch

My project today is for the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I love this little image in Fun & Fast Notes.  The little bird is holding one little flower stem.  I stamped a few more flowers and sketched in little stems with a Copic Multiliner.  I painted the images with reinker and watercolor brush.  I took a *large dry brush and brushed it directly to the ink pad to apply ink and to allow me to stipple in the wasabi grass and the soft blue sky.  I added a little texture with my fern stamp and was ready to work on the layout.  I used another simple layer of watercolor paper with the Polka Dot background stamp.  I know it seems wasteful to use watercolor paper in this manner but I don’t like to layer my main image layer of watercolor over a paper that is too white since it is so creamy in color.  I used a Canvas background stamp on the wasabi layer. I used scalloped decorative scissors to cut both sides of the pomegranate layer under the main image.  This darling gingham was the perfect choice to embellish this sweet little scene.

Stamps:  SU Fun & Fast Notes, Polka Dot and Canvas Backgrounds, Watercolor Minis

Paper:  Pomegranate, Wasabi, Watercolor

Ink:  Brilliance Black, Pomegranate, Wasabi, Soft Sky, Saffron

Accessories:  Copic Multiliner, Gingham, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamond Glitter, White Gel Pen, Decorative Scissors

* Take a look at the large watercolor brush.  It is so perfect to use to brush on ink and it is easy to move it around images without a need to mask it to protect it. The brush is a 7000C-8 size brush, is soft and a little fluffy.  It applies the color down in such a pretty layer.

  1. Kittie, this is so sweet. Thanks for the great details you give with each posting. I may have to go searching for the watercolor brush. TFS
