Two Way Open Card
The Technique Lovers Challenge on SCS Monday was to create a card that opens two ways. I hate to admit that I was definitely challenged with this project. I don’t seem to follow instructions too well. I finally got it complete. My favorite part was putting the little beach scene inside. Here is a link to the main challenge post that also has complete instructions on how to create this style of card.
I used two different Teresa Collins designer papers from the Boardwalk collection as the main focus for my card. You can find this lovely paper on Rubbernecker Stamp Company under Teresa Collins Designs. I put a little circle and eyelet on the front to use to secure the front close with a little string.
When the first flap opens you see the paper design carried over on the inside and I used the palm tree design from the Boardwalk collection as the main focal point. Believe it or not I actually got the designer paper to line up perfectly on the flap and the base. I’m usually not quite that coordinated.
I love the little surprise beach scene inside. I chose to create a fence line on the beach with the ocean in the distance. These images are from the Beach Party Collection on Rubbernecker. The fence image has a few sprigs of sea oates that I enhanced with an olive artist pen to create a soft look to the scene. I used the smaller sand dune image to create the sand texture. After I stamped and painted the fence and sponged in the sand area, I used a post-it to mask off the sky area so I could sponge on the blue of the ocean creating a perfectly straight line. I removed the post-it and added the same blue for the sky by sponging over a little home made scalloped cloud template. I added touches of yellow to the sky to show the sun shining through the clouds.
