Peaceful Beach

The Inspiration Challenge on SCS today used some gorgeous chairs and fabrics by F. Schumacher & Company. I fell in love with one of the three because of the soft blues and beige colors.

I felt these colors were so peaceful and they made me think of a beach house.  I took my inspiration to an outdoor beach scene with a lighthouse, dunes and water but 't want anything to pop out drastically.  I wanted to create the same peace that I felt with the chair scene.

I chose to work with images from the Rubbernecker Beach Party collection. I stamped the lighthouse with Sahara Sand by masking off a portion of it so I could tuck it behind a dune with a fence and grass.  I stamped the fence and grass with Sahara Sand as well and then sponged it on the beach area as well.  I filled in texture in the sand with a small sand dune image.  I painted the fence and light house with a blender pen using Sahara and Bordering Blue.  I lost lots of the fence detail so I added it back with a gray marker. I masked off the water line and sponged on Bordering Blue for the water.  I sponged the sky with a lighter layer of Bordering blue and then stamped the gulls.  I love this scene.  I only have one more month before we leave to go on our annual family reunion at Cape Hatteras, NC.  I can't wait.

  1. Kittie, take me away right into this scene! Thanks for the Happy Winter tip and the love in my gallery this morning. I’m off to look for that set, but in the meantime I’ll dream I’m on this beach. 🙂
