I love the cabin image in Rubbernecker's Kittie Kits-The Moose is Loose set and love combining it with the evergreens in the set to create winter scenes. You can also find these images in a larger size on Rubbernecker Stamp Oasis Winter Holiday Collection-Tree Set and Rubbernecker Moose Collection.
I stamped the tree images on parchment paper with green ink, masked the trees and then stamped the cabin with brown ink. I used a blender pen to lightly color the cabin so I wouldn't make the lines run since I had used a water based ink. I didn't want this to have the full dark lines of using Stazon or Black Brilliance but wanted a more subtle look. I painted white craft ink on the roof, ground and trees and then embossed with white embossing powder. I tore out the image and distressed the edges with a distressing tool, sponged on distress ink and then crumpled up the paper some and ran it across the top of the pad to add some defined aged lines. I used the SU retired Weathered background stamp to create the layer behind the image and the main card layer is Papertrey new Designer Paper-Chocolate Remix. I used an Inkssentials blending tool and foam to sponge on dark ink to all layers to age. I cut the tabs off of two pieces of SU Hodgepodge hardware to create the simple appearance of hinges on the top of the image layer, colored them with a dark brown Copic marker and attached. I used Martha Stewart dark brown twill as an embellishment across the top of the card and for a knot tie for the Rubbernecker Stamp Oasis -Petite Sentiment.
I love the north woods feel to this card and wish I could take a long winter hike on a path to this cabin for rest, relaxation and reflection. I have been struggling lately with my work schedule, energy level and my ability to blog daily. I really love posting to my blog, uploading to my SCS gallery and sharing my ideas and creativity. Blogging has begun to feel like work at times when I am too tired and I find myself feeling guilty if I don't upload a post. My friend, Candy (cwilliams) shared a great link with me to a site that gave me one of those "ta-da" moments. I want to share my discovery with you.
I started stamping several years ago and it is not only a fantastic hobby, a creative outlet but also a stress reliever that far exceeds drugs , alcohol and yes…..even chocolate. I stamp for my own enjoyment and personal fulfillment and share freely anything I learn as I go. I have given myself permission to have fun, post "if and when I can" and let it go at that. Making this mind set change has already given me more freedom and a new and empowered burst of creativity. I am sure that even though I may be uploading less often the level of creativity on the projects that I do upload will be far more significant and meaningful to me and in turn more interesting to you as well. I invite you to give this subject some thought and reflection yourself and figure out exactly why you stamp and/or blog. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

You always do wonderful scenes and this rustic beauty is fabulous Kittie!
Kittie .. I so admire your personal touch with your Kittie Kits! Truly a delight to see!
~Bev
Gorgeous as always Kittie! Good for you Kittie, glad I could help!
Kittie, I so agree with you. I’m proud of you for your decision and thank you for the link. This card is so adorable! You are a wonderful designer and I agree that when we are stressed about putting up daily designs, our design work becomes a “chore” and loses some of the creativity our designs would normally have.
Beautiful card, Kit. Love seeing that you took the step to blog without obligation too!
Hi Kittie, I don’t blog but am amazed at people who post things everyday. While I appreciate it and enjoy the eye candy, I find myself thinking, “how on earth do they have the time!!”. Your work is lovely and a treat whenever it is posted. Far better to post less, with 0 burnout than everyday and stressed to the max, I say. Good for you!
Kittie, this card is so warm and welcoming! Just beautiful! Good for you on taking time to step back and breathe! I’m sure I’m headed in that direction. I’m only posting 2 – 3 times a week now, and I feel so much more inclined to create when I don’t feel like I have to!
Amen, Kittie! Stamping is a creative outlet, and while I enjoy seeing what you’ve been up to, it should not be an obligation. I’ve not started a blog for that exact reason. I think it would put too much stress on me to post all the time. Half the time I can’t even remember to upload my cards into my SCS gallery! 🙂
i can’t get enough of your work! i totally understand between the baby household chores & life, im lucky if i get one card done a week. thank you for all that you do! i have learned so much from you. watching your blog & the teqniques you share has made me a better card maker & has made card making more fun.
thank you
Awesome stamping, it does look like a nice little retreat doesn’t it 🙂 the crackle background is a neat touch and love the hinges!
I have never started selling my work or blogging for this purpose, I was too afraid that my craft/fun/hobby would turn into work and that is my escape I didn’t want it to become that. I think some people are worried that their viewers won’t come back if they don’t do something daily, and for me that just isn’t the case, your work is fantastic and any you want to share is always welcome but you need to have a balance, so glad you are taking this on, you will enjoy your creations alot more I think!
This is really nice, I like the design and the papers you used. Great card~~~~
Kittie, this is just beautiful work!!!
Love the rustic feel to this card! Gorgeous! Best, Curt
Good for you, my friend, for putting what YOU need ahead of what you think WE need!!! I have come to the conclusion that part of the reason that I haven’t felt the mojo to stamp lately is that I am overwhelmed by my day to day obligations and my feelings that if I don’t do a “challenge” card no one will notice. I decided this week that I need to change my mind set. I NEED to make time for ME (whether that means exercising or stamping/creating in some medium) or means that I just pick up a book and read for the total waste of time of it!! My cards need to be something that I create for ME….not anyone else….
I’m proud of you for putting yourself first and will look forward to your creations (when you are able to post them)
