I enjoyed playing this past week with the new Vintage Collection and it gave me an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone.
I worked with the new Sister images and they remind me so much of photographs I have of my parents as children. I really enjoyed trying to recreate the look of the old sepia photos that had been lightly hand tinted with color.
I stamped the image with chocolate Brilliance on watercolor paper and lightly painted with a brush and washed reinker. I thought the girls would be so lovely in a folded paper frame with scalloped eyelet borders sponged with Old Paper ink. The gold lock and key seemed to be a perfect vintage embellishment along with the heated and aged organdy multi loop bow. I stamped the main card layer with the Bed of Roses background stamp and sponged over with Old Paper ink.
My second project is the second of the two Sister images and I used the same painting technique to color them. I went with a much simpler card design by using one cream colored paper and ribbon that would allow the lightly colored image pop. Aren’t they adorable!! The frame was created with Nestabilities dies and then hand pierced with a needle to match the eyelet border.
My last project was fast and simple using the Model T car image. I stamped the image with Walnut Stain distress ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I used my craft knife to cut out the window area and cut the remaining image with snips. I wanted to pop it up for a little dimension. I used my distressing tool to rough up the edges, sponged with Vintage Photo ink and attached the car over the layer with mounting tape. The background layer was created using retired SU designer paper. This Model T image is perfect for those guy cards that we need to make and never know what to use.
