In The Christmas Mood

Here I am in Florida with record breaking temperatures and me in the mood to make Christmas cards.  I had lots of fun this weekend playing in the Splitcoaststampers challenges and adding to my supply of cards.  Not only do I need cards to send holiday greetings to my family and friends but I also sell them in my office to raise money for our annual adopt-a-family holiday project.

My first project  was made to honor my good friend, Cindy Motherway aka Mothermark who was crowned Queen for the Day on Friday.  I had no problem at all finding one of Cindy’s projects for inspiration as I received one of her very special cards as a gift a couple of years ago and have kept it as a treasure. Here are our cards together.KC The Moose is Loose 15 a

Here is a closer view of mine.

KC The Moose is Loose 15

I used my Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose set and a Rubbernecker tree from the Evergreen Set. This project was simple and easy to do.  Texture for the snowy ground was created with a Cuttlebug folder and then cut out to fit the card front.  I cut the oval shape with Nesties before embossing and then cut to pop up over the front of the cabin scene.  The trees were simply stamped across the card base and oval base and the sky was sponged using the retired SU cloud template.  I used a punched circle to create the mask for the moon. The cabin was painted and the little roof parts were cut out of some of the embossed scraps.

My second project was created for the Saturday Inspiration Challenge.  I was inspired by an olive green frame.  I like nothing better than to use Nesties to create frames to highlight my scenes.

KC Penny Johnson Dearest Deer

I created a simple tree scene with snow on the ground and framed using a double mat of red and olive green.  I created the dotted texture using a Cuttlebug folder.  I love the new Dearest Deer image from the Stampavie Penny Johnson Christmas release.  I stamped the image, painted and cut out to pop up in front of the scene.  I love those little legs and hoofs showing out of the box.

My third project was done for the Featured Stamper challenge. My good friend, Kathy aka CAKath was our inspiration artist for the day and here is a link to her project that inspired me.

KC Penny Johnson Snowy and Rudolph

I loved the simple layout Kathy used with the image being the main focus.  The ribbon and tag were the perfect embellishment for a simple project. I stamped the new Stampavie Penny Johnson Snowy & Rudolph image on watercolor paper, colored and applied a tag and twill embellishment and attached to the card front.  Fun, fast and easy.

I hope you all have a great week and that you have the opportunity to get your fingers inky.

  2. Oh my goodness Kittie – your cards are absolutely breathtaking. And speaking of keeping a hand made card as a treasured keepsake, I’ve got two of yours that I keep very close to my heart and admire (sigh at) throughout the year. Your artistry is pretty spectacular.
