Clean and Simple

Good morning and holiday greetings to you.  I hope your Christmas was wonderful and brought you wonderful blessings with your family and friends.

I have a couple clean and simple cards to share with you.  The first is a design using Sarah Kay’s Zoe Gazing at the Butterfly by Stampavie. Clean and simple is not really my forte but lately I have been enjoying stretching myself out of my “more is more” scene mode.  All of Sarah Kay’s little girls are so perfectly beautiful and can easily stand alone on a project  with very little embellishment.

I love the soft colors of this Papertrey designer paper and chose ink colors to perfectly match. I stamped Zoe on watercolor paper, watercolored with reinkers and cut her out.   I cut the basket out separately so I could pop it up in front of Zoe to add a little dimension.  The simple white scalloped layer seemed the perfect background to allow Zoe to be in full focus.  I added a small piece of ribbon that I cut with pinking shears and shredded a little to give the appearance of Zoe sitting in the grass.  This is a perfect card to send a note in to a little girl of any age.

My second is a design using Flower Heart Topiary by Rubbernecker. The sentiment “A bloom a day keeps the frown away” is found in the Rubbernecker Wild Flower set.

I chose this lovely BasicGrey Sugared paper as my inspiration. I stamped the image on watercolor paper twice and watercolored using reinkers.  I cut the complete image out to pop up over the main layer.  I cut the front portion of the pot, several of the flowers and leaves and popped them up with over the image. I created scalloped borders with my new Martha Stewart punch that I got for Christmas.  I added the soft pink multi loop bow  as the perfect finishing touch

I hope you enjoy your New Year’s Holiday weekend and wish you a peaceful, happy and healthy 2011.

  1. I love both cards, BUT I love the first one best (I guess because that little girl is so darn cute). And the colors you picked for her is awsome. I adore the way you set Zoe out with the white background, nice touch! BJ
