Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday. My sister and brother-in-law were here and that was a great present for us. We also had a great visit with Rubbernecker Dave and Pat on Sunday evening. They are in Florida visiting Dave’s parents. It is always wonderful to spend time with people we care about. That is what the holidays are all about.
I had time to play in a couple of Splitcoaststampers challenges Sunday and Monday. I found it a little sad to put all the Christmas images and colors away and get back to general projects. I seem to go through Christmas card withdrawal every year. My first project is a fun Neighborhood card I made to give to our new neighbors that moved in right next door.
The Clean and Simple challenge was to use chocolate brown, wasabi green, kraft and white. I stamped the Rubbernecker Neighborhood image on kraft paper, lightly painted in the houses, sponged in the green grass and little paths and cut them out to pop up over a white background. I filled in the background with the little fern image from my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master. The layered frame was cut with Deckle Nestabilities dies and popped up over the scene with mounting tape. I like how it turned out.
The second project was made using the toys Santa brought me. The Martha Stewart border and corner punch set was a little trickier to use than I thought but I finally got the hang of it. After messing up a couple attempts I finally decided I may benefit from reading the directions. The new frond punch is perfect to create little wreaths of leaves around a flower. I am enjoying challenges more and more that emphasize simplicity and the less is more approach with texture, color and a simple focus.
Today is my first day back to work after being off almost a week so I’d better get ready to go. Enjoy the rest of 2010 as there isn’t much time left. Have a great week.

super cards!
What beautiful cards, Kittie….love the little houses on the first and what pretty colors on the second!!! Sounds like you had a great Christmas and how wonderful to get to see Dave and Pat…have a fun and safe New Years!!!
Great cards!! I especially like the second one because you have given me an idea for using all of my Martha Stewart punches. I’ve been collecting so many of the Punch Around the Page sets and yet I have not used them much at all because I feel a bit confined by the paper size restrictions for them. I really like how you used this set on this card!!!
Oh such fabby cards, sweet Kittie! You’re always a mainstay of inspiration for me. I didn’t even realize there’s a neighborhood stamp at RN … and this is a great combo with your special Kittie Kits! Love the happy sentiment card with smiling colors too! Happy New Year to you both!
