Flower Power Beetle Bug

Good Saturday morning!  I have a fun project to share with you today using a newly released Rubbernecker VW Bug from the 2012 Automobile Collection.

VW bug

It’s a fun and cartoony image so I decided to deck it out with flowered designer paper and create a simple scene around it.

I stamped the image on designer paper using Brilliance Graphite Black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I cut the windows out with craft knife and used a black glaze pen to highlight around the cut areas.  I popped the car up on the white background circle using mounting tape.

I die cut a portion of a circle for the grassy area, hand snipped sprigs of grass and attached to the bottom of the base layer. I die cut Leafy Branch using green and colored the brown limbs with a Vintage Photo Distress Marker. I die cut Puffy Clouds out of the background designer paper and a yellow circle for the sun and attached all the elements with rolled glue dots and Glossy Accents to create the scene. I finished by using some of the tiny flowers cut from the Flower Mound die.

Don’t forget to check out all of the 2012 Rubbernecker releases.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  I know I am sure looking forward to it.

  3. Hate to admit it, sometimes, but I lived in the flower power times and drove a VW Bug – actually over the years had 4 of them. Oh what a car! Thanks, Kittie.
