Pretty Posies and Butterfly and Blog Candy

Happy Monday morning!  I want to start my post today by offering up the lovely Memory Box Wild Blooms die as blog candy.  All you have to do to be entered into a random drawing is leave me a comment on this post saying what your “go to” technique is when you need a quick card.  You will have until noon on Friday, June 22nd to leave a comment and the winner will be announced in my Saturday, June 23rd morning post.

Memory Box Dies, Wild Blooms

My project today was made using the smaller set of dies in the My Favorite Things Pretty Posies set.  I paired it with my new Memory Box Honeyblossom   Sprig and Vivienne Butterfly dies and the My Favorite Things Oval Dainty Doily.

I die cut the ovals, layered the white on the pink using mounting tape and attached to the card base.

I cut three sets of flowers and two sets of sprigs to create this soft flower spray. I used a stylus and mat to form the flowers and add a little dimension to the foliage.  I attached one full sprig on the white oval and then cut the second one apart and attached to the first one creating a fuller piece of foliage. I attached the three flowers and then added a few of the tiny flowers from the Flower Mound to soften.  The butterfly and pearls seemed like the perfect finishing touch for this simple yet elegant card.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Don’t forget to leave your comment on this post if you would like to be entered into the drawing for my blog candy.

  1. **Drool** Absolutely LOVE the detailed butterfly ~~ first time seeing it and definitely a must have 🙂 Let’s see, my “go to” when I need a quick and fast card is pretty impossible for me … my problem is I like all the small defined details and dimensional things. But if I HAD to, I would creative a quick tag with some vintage ribbon 🙂
TFS and have a wonderful week Kittie !

Thank you for the opportunity to win such a lovely die. It has been on my wishlist for a while.
My go-to technique for quick cards is to pop up punch shapes and die cuts on foam tape to give a 3D look. I use a lot of foam tape so I buy it in the wheel size at the office supply stores.
    Have a great week!

I think my “go to” technique for a quick and fast card would have to be a fancy stamp coloured with my copics with a simple sentiment. Thanks for the chance to win!

My “go-to” technique is to die cut and layer with simple sentiments. All the beautiful die cuts that are available now make it easy to look like you worked harder than you did! Of course, your attention to detail is a true labor of love! Thanks for sharing all you do!

  7. I enjoy your lovely cards. They are exquisite!
When I make a quick card, I do a wash of color over a stamped image, and paste it over patterned paper. I’d love to try and do more 3D type cards like yours.

  8. Wow Kittie, this is so gorgeous! Love the colors you used and those flowers!!!
I have a really hard time designing cards (I am fairly new at this), so when I need a quick card, I grab my Papercrafts magazine and find one I like and then adapt it to my stash. It is amazing how quickly they come together when I have a “sketch”. Speaking of which, I also save sketches from challenge blogs in a file and sometimes I will use those when I need a quick card.
Thanks for the chance to win this lovely die!

  9. Wow, this card is gorgeous…but then all of your projects are out of this world beautiful!! My go-to technique for quick cards would be using a collage stamp. I can often get away without even coloring it in if I coordinate the papers and background and ink! THanks for this wonderful giveaway!

My go to technique for a quick card is to use a background paper and add a die cut, popped onto some foam tape, with a sentiment sticker. The Vivienne butterfly is one of my favourites! Thanks for the opportunity to win 🙂

Since I am fairly new to the card making world, my ‘go to’ would have to be a simple card using a die cut or two, and no type of ‘coloring’.

  14. Your card is so sweet and lacy. Is there any thing prettier than pink and green? I love your beautiful butterfly. It looks so delicate landing on the bouquet. I am a stamper at heart but I have the spellbinder Poinsettia and have been practicing using it and hopefully I will be ready to make cards for Christmas. I had to have it after seeing yours last year.

I have a new Must Have in this Pretty Posies and the Dainty Doily dies. I love this delicate card. I just recently bought the Premula Blooms because of a card you posted and now I must have this one too.
When I want a Quick Go To card, I find myself using the Madison Window Die. It has so very many possibilities and can be adapted to all seasons and situations. It is easy and fun to brainstorm new scenes. And Who caused me to want the MWD???? You of course. I learn so much from you Kitty and greatly admire your work.

My go to/quick card technique? Haven’t really thought about it too much but I guess it would be “rolling” a design on the bottom – embossing it and adding the sentiment – usually punched out and popped up for dimension.

  55. Wow, this is so fantastic! All your cards are just out of this world gorgeous. My favorite go to when I need a quick card is a frame embossing folder and a simple stamp or die-cut on top of it, or even sometimes a purchased stacked sticker. I recently made 22 cards for game prizes for my grand-daughter’s baby shower using my embossing folders, 4 sheets of die cut stickers I got at the $ store and peel-off sentiment stickers.

When I need to make a card in 15 minutes, I go to my Cricut Imagine. It will print and cut the designs and then I glue or pop them on the card base. Almost instant card.
However, I love making the cards like you do with the dies and punches.
The die that you have to ‘give-a-way’ is one that I do not have and I would love to add it to my collection. I was actually thinking of ordering it from Ellen the past weekend. I also saw on her site a stamp that would have made a great background for this die.
    Thank you for your inspiration.

Before discovering your blog I would have said either one of my lili of the valley rubber stamps coloured with either copics or promarkers, or a sentiment diecut into a labels type shape layered onto pretty backing paper with ribbon, lace and flowers, but now I would say that these shaped flowers would be my current go to technique, as, now I have learned the basic techniques with the aid of your fab tutorials, they are not only reasonably quick to cut and shape, they are really eye catching too. I donate most of my cards to a local animal rescue charity and they have told me that the floral ones are popular and go really well.

Just a simple card-size rectangle makes the base of your weaving then choose a complementary color. You can leave the edges solid or you can just eyeball the size and leave the ends dangling. It always creates a magical background for your sentiment and other embellishments.

  96. I love seeing your work. It’s always sooo beautiful.
My “go to” technique…hmmm…my “go to” is usually tied directly w/procrastination so i really don’t have time for a technique. So it would either me a “Keep it Simple” card or look at some sketches for a layout idea ~ usually using several layers of paper and then popping up either a cut out image/embellishment

  97. Oh my goodness – this card is absolutely gorgeous!
Probably my go-to would be a cuttlebug embossing folder and a stamped image to layer, with flowers or butterfly to embellish

  98. My go to for a quick card is always clean and simple. Usually try to use a larger sentiment that can be quickly colored, then add some score lines.
Love your cards, I’m so glad that I found your blog!! 🙂

  99. As always, what a beautiful card. I love your style and enjoy your blog very much. For a quick card, I rely on my big shot and dies. I like to layer shapes, patterned paper, a stamped or computer-generated sentiment, and ribbon (feminine) or a strip of crimped paper with brads (masculine) for a quick card. Thanks for a chance to win.
