Blooming Poinsettia

Good Friday morning.  Are you ready for the weekend?  I sure am.  I’ve had this card base with the designer paper and Impression Obsession Border Duo 2 laying on my work table for a while from a project that I didn’t complete.  I decided to stick something on it since it was such a pretty combination of colors and pattern.  I thought the Poppystamps Blooming Poinsettia and Impression Obsession Pine Branch  would be just the perfect thing.

I die cut two of the largest petals and one of the two smaller ones to create the poinsettia.  I also cut one green large petal to use for the leaves.  I like that better than the leaf die that comes with the set. I cut the pine and lightly sponged brown ink on the branch area to add a more natural look. I formed the petals and pine branches with a stylus and mat. You can check out my poinsettia tutorial if you would like to see step by step photos of how I form the petals.

I attached the pine to the card base with glossy accents and then attached the poinsettia right on top of the pine.  I cut apart and tucked the green petals in around the poinsettia for the perfect finish.  I love how this flower turned out.  The Poppystamps Blooming Poinsettia is so pretty and has such natural looking curved petal tips. Of course, you can’t go too wrong when you combine poinsettias and pine together.

Take some time to get your fingers inky and have a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.
