Framed Tree and Deer

Good Wednesday morning.  I have a simple project to share with you today.  I almost didn’t post it as my husband said he didn’t like it much.  I figured….what the hay…I made it so I may as well post it.  LOL!

I really like this new Sizzix Fancy Square Frame set.  I thought a big red frame against the white would create a great backdrop for the tree.  Actually that was all I planned for this card but it was so stark and felt empty. The deer were an after thought but thought they brought a little more interest to the card.KC Dee;s Large Snow Covered Tree 1 left

I mounted the frame with mounting tape. I formed the trees lightly with a stylus and mat and then assembled attaching each section with glossy accents.  I applied a light edge of liquid applique around all the outer branches of the tree and tapped lightly with my finger to spread the liquid out before heating. I sponged brown ink on the deer, cut them apart to design in the scene and attached them with rolled glue dots. The finishing touch was the tiny red bow on the top of the tree.KC Dee's Large Snow Covered Tree 1 center

OK.  So some days are diamonds and some days are stone. Does anyone remember that song?  I guess I am showing my age.

Have a great day and thanks for coming by today.  Remember the deadline to leave a comment for my blog candy opportunity is 5:00 pm today EST.

  1. Most of your days are diamonds! This is one too. (yes, I do remember the song:) I don’t really think you can make a “bad” card – me, on the other hand lol

  2. I’m glad that you went ahead and posted the card. It’s great knowing that not all your cards are perfectly beautiful and gorgeous and loved by everyone. Personally I think you finished it off nicely. It is not a delicate frame but the deer and the tree balance it well. Nice job.

  3. Thank you for going ahead and posting your card. Time to make an intricately detailed card can be an issue, so it’s wonderful to have more simple card ideas to draw from. It is beautiful just the way you made it!

  4. I am so glad you used and posted the tree from Dee’s Distinctively as I was standing in the store just yesterday and looking at all her beautiful dies. I love the tree but came home with the Candle Set. Can’t wait to see what you do with that one if you ever use it! (I think I might go back and also get the tree – so beautiful!)

  5. The card is beautiful, the frame’s color is perfect, the tree is lovely and the deers adorables. What more could you want in a card? It was a good thing you didn’t paid attention to your husband.
