Good Monday morning. First let me start by thanking all of you who sent well wishes for me to have a speedy recovery from my cataract surgery. I am doing extremely well and am enjoying being able to see with my right eye. It’s amazing how much better I can see already and it sure has improved my ability to see while playing with my paper, ink and dies.
My project today was made using Impression Obsession Bed and Breakfast, No Place Like Home, Bare Branch, Leaf Cluster, Birds, Fence Border, Grass Border, and Martha Stewart Branch Punch.
I love creating birdhouse scenes. I especially love this sweet and charming image. I thought I would play with it hanging from a tree branch but also have it grounded with it’s own little fence and flower garden. It’s has the best of both worlds. LOL!
I started by stamping the birdhouse image on watercolor paper using black versafine ink, heat set it, watercolored it with distress ink reinkers and cut it out. I cut the bare branch, leaf clusters and tiny flowers and assembled them using glossy accents. I cut out a couple sections of grass border and the fence border and was ready to start assembling my scene.
I cut my frame using one of the Spellbinders Matting Basics B dies and attached it to the card front with mounting tape. If you are like me and love making frames and…..have a hard time cutting out perfectly sized layers then you may want to consider the Matting Basics sets.
I put two layers of grass border in the scene and attached it with glossy accents. I attached the fence in front of the grass. I cut a thin layer of green using my deckle scissors to attach in front of the fence for a finished edge. I tucked the birdhouse in behind the fence and grass and attached it with mounting tape. I attached the branch to the frame with glossy accents and secured it in a few places with rolled glue dots.
I stamped the sentiment with black versafine and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I cut it out with my deckle scissors and created a sign post for the scene. I stamped and cut the birds, embossed them and placed them in the scene for the finishing touch. Sadly, for some reason this was a very hard card to photograph and edit. I had to edit the colors to look washed out for you to even see the birds in the scene.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day.
