Good Monday morning. My project today is a little out of my wheelhouse. I have had the Graphic 45 Christmas Past Collection for quite a while and have rarely used it. I love the images but it is 12” by 12” and most of the images and designs are too large for card making. I broke down and cut the cherubs out of the Ode to Joy and thought they would be beautiful on a card paired with poinsettias and holly.
I started by cutting out the frame layers. I used vanilla cardstock for the decorative border and applied metallic rich gold Pan Pastel to it to make it match the designer paper. The second frame layer was cut out of the backside of the paper and was attached to the base with mounting tape. I attached a folded 5” x 3” card to the back ofthe frame.
Click on the photos to see a closer view.
I cut the image out using my snips. I cut three sets of poinsettias out of vanilla cardstock, applied red Pan Pastel for the color and then applied rich gold pastel to add a shimmer to the flowers. I cut the holly and pine sprigs using artichoke and applied rich gold pastel to them as well. Sadly none of this gold glimmer shows in the photos but it’s really stunning in person.
I arranged the foliage on the base and attached with glossy accents. I attached the cherubs image to the base using mounting tape and then attached the poinsettias with glossy accents. I tucked a few sprigs of pine around each poinsettia to soften.
I just got my order of new Pan Pastel colors this week and realized I ordered one of the colors in my Susan's Garden set. 340 Permanent Red Tint. Ugh! I hate when I do that but it always give me the opportunity to share some blog candy with you. All you have to do to qualify for the Pan Pastel, Sofft Knife and Cover is leave me a comment by Friday, Oct 4th at 5:00 pm letting me know if you have tried using Pan Pastels.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

I have been following you for over a year and each and everyone of your cards has been an inspiration. I start my morning off with a cup of java and open my email to see what you have created. I have bought some new products because of your inspiration and have enjoyed each and everyone – but Pan Pastels – I have never seen those. I have pastel pencils so not sure what the Pans are except your flowers are beautifully colored! Continue with all your inspirations! Hugs
Another “most gorgeous card” I have ever seen. Your work is awesome. I am happy to learn about pan pastels and will need to purchase some. Thanks for all the inspirations.

I have indeed tried the Pan Pastels and they are worth every penny – glorious smooth application and fail-proof results. Dick Blick and Amazon have them at good prices and they’re well worth the budget pinch in order to get them. I don’t have this particular color and am happy for the chance to win it – thanks!
As so many others have said, I so look forward to your emails every day. I especially love how your make your scenes come to life. Hope to someday being able to the same. I haven’t tried pan pastels, but like to. Another beautiful card today!
What a beautiful card. I love G45, but usually get the 8×8 pads so they work better on cards. I love how the cherubs turned out on your card. They are darling. I haven’t tried pan pastels, but have been considering them for some time. I’ve seen so many beautiful things colored with them.
I am looking forward to finding some Pan Pastels and giving them a try. Lovely card! Kren @ afourthlife.blogspot.com
Beautiful card Kittie!!!! I still have some of the same G45 paper too! Perfect inspiration for the months ahead….(less than 3!) I have a few of these in my arsenal of art mediums and love how easy they are to apply and blend:) Would love to add this color!!! 🙂
Wow Great card first time that I ear about this medium if I win I might just be an addict of new medium.
Thanks for sharing.

I haven’t used pan pastels, but I’ll give it a try. Your card is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I am soo glad to have found your blog. I love everything you do. I have several dies and embossing folders that I have purchased more than once. I have to keep an inventory list next to my computer to keep from buying an item over and over again because I forget I have it already. I also have a coupon holder that I carry in my purse. It contains lists of dies, inks and punches I have so that I don’t buy them again while out shopping.
Love your card, but of course I love all your creations. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Haven’t tried the Pan Pastels yet…
I love your cards. I have just started using Pan Pastels and really love them. It’s hard to believe that you can even erase mistakes using them. Thanks for sharing your creations. I don’t have the patience to do your kind of creations, but I love looking.

Love all your cards Kitty, I dont think I could pick a
favorite they are all so unique and beautiful. I look
forward, as everyone, to your emails to see what gorgeous
idea you have come up with next. I would love to try the
pan pastels which are a bit pricey for me, but pink and
purple are two of my favorite colors so it would be exciting
to win and get to try a new product, thank you.
You make such beautiful cards. I looked at your tutorials and looked for Pan Pastels on the internet. I only found the Susan’s garden set, which is pricy. Now I see that I can buy one at a time at Ellen Hudsen. I would love to try one before I invest. Can you tell us if you have to seal Pan Pastels so they do not come off the card?
Your card is so lovely and vintage! Those poinsettias are so pretty. I have not tried Pan Pastels yet. Thanks for sharing how you made the card and for the chance to win!
Your card is gorgeous as usual! I have never used panned pastels but have watched Susan’s videos and just acquired one of her flower dies to try my hand at it. Would love to experiment with the pastels.

Kitty- Another great card! I have purchased a pan pastel kit but haven’t had the opportunity to use them yet. I admire your dedication to card making and look forward to your daily post.

As always an AMAZING creation from you. Love the vintage style you achieved so perfectly here in this card.
About using PanPastels : bought a few, tried them a little. Not very much though. Not sure whether you need to add a fixative after coloring the items ?? Did you have any issues with that ???

Hi Kittie,I have recently “discovered” your blog. I love all of your creations and would welcome the opportunity to win a Pan Pastel. Pink is a special favorite of mine. Thank you.
Hello Kittie,
My friend Joan told me about your blog a few weeks ago. Now I go to it daily you have a wonderful way of describing your technique’s and showing them off. I do have a small set of the pan pastels and have used them only a few times. But with is beautiful fall leaves card I can’t wait to get them out and get started trying to do what you have so graceousely showed us. To be able to add the pin pastel to my small collection would be awesome. thanks so much for the opportunity and for sharing with us.
Judy
Hiya
Just discovered your blog through this wonderful card which I spotted during a Google search for something or other :). I’m somewhat of a stamp novice & haven’t come across Pan Pastels before, but utterly fascinated, so would LOVE to win this prize to try & create some wonderful poinsettias myself.
Defo going to be returning often to your blog from here on!!
Blessings
Romayne
Hi KIttie, I love your cards as I have told you a zillion times…lol but they are so beautiful and my inspirtation. I DID the same thing you did, I ordered the exact same color (pan pastel) and had the exact same reaction…super ugh….It is not like the color they show…but all the rest seem to be pretty on…at least the ones I do have. I have some Pan Pastel “s’ because of YOU…when you made your first card with them I went to order some…and the ones I have so far, are so pretty and a creamy chalky feel…I would love to win the pink one, I am a pink girl and just love that shade…I am just getting one or two a month..they are not that expensive, but with the Floods we have had here in CO (hardly anyone had flood insurance) we have to use the extra to rebuild part of the basement and house foundation. I am blessed though…I could have had it so much worse…like a lot of my neighbors..anyway your cards are beautiful and they make my day! Blessings, Victoria
You’re cards are amazing. I’d love to try PanPasetels; thank you for the opportunity to win.
