Ringo, The Big Kitty

Good Wednesday morning.  I got home from my “sisters” vacation too late yesterday evening to create a project to post for today. But since you know how much I love cats I thought I would share some pictures of Ringo, my sister Jeannie’s amazing 30 pound Maine Coon. Ringo is the largest domestic cat I have ever seen and one of the most loveable. Look at his gorgeous face.

Ringo 1

I wanted to get a picture taken with one us to show his size.  This is my sister Cynthia struggling to get him to look into the camera.  Doesn’t he look happy!  LOL!

Cindy and Ringo

Cynthia decided she could maybe get a close up face shot by getting down on the ground with him but it didn’t work because he kept looking down.

Cindy and Ringo 2

I finally got him on my lap for a shot that shows how huge he is.  He is the most docile, mild mannered cat I have ever seen.  He is such a big baby and loved sitting on our laps. Maybe I should say he loved getting as much of himself on our laps as he could.  I slept on the couch I am sitting on in the picture below and it was a tight squeeze but Ringo figured out how to get up there and sleep with me.  LOL!

Kittie and Ringo

It’s always wonderful to spend time with my sisters.  Since there was only the three of us there we weren’t able to get pictures of ourselves together.  We sure missed having Cheryl, our oldest sister there with us and I hope we can all be together sometime soon. I have the most wonderful sisters in the world.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

  1. Fabulous photos of Ringo, Kittie. I had a cat that was half Maine Coon. Her name was Scooter, We got her when she was six weeks old, Stephen was in first grade. She recently passed from Cancer at the age of 14. We absolutely loved her. She was human, like Ringo, she followed us everywhere, loved going on walks with us and she played with our two dogs like she was one of them. We miss her som much.
I’m so happy you were able to get together with your sisters, family is so important and I bet you all havd a fabulous time! We’re happy you’re back.

  2. He is huge! And I thought my 15lb. Siamese was big.
He looks funny, like saying, “just take the picture already.”

  3. Wow Kittie, now that’s a cat and a half! I’d heard they were big and have seen a couple up next to people on TV. But they didn’t come close to his size! Glad you had a good time with your sis’s. My mom was 1 of 4 girls too. And when they got together, the space around us got a little crazy! lol But it was so much fun. The one Christmas we were all able to be together, spawned 3 or 4 family stories that have been told often. Savor the times. As I now savor the memories. Thanks for sharing. Jess

  4. I didn’t read your verbiage before looking at the photo. My first repose was WOW that cat is HUGE or Kittie is really small. Then I read the verbiage — THAT is one SUPER LARGE small lion you have there lol! He is AWESOME.

  9. My husband says that cats think the camera is going to steal their soul so they won’t look directly at the camera. Maybe that’s what Ringo thinks.

  13. oh my gosh, Ringo is absolutely gorgeous/handsome!!!! (don’t want to offend his masculine sensibilities!) I didn’t quite realize HOW large he was until the very last photo. I had met some of the Maine Coon’s before, but none of his size. he is truly spectacular! I bet he is a great snuggler, when he wants to be! grins! thanks so much for sharing!
your blog is always an inspiration, whether with your paper crafts or your fabulous cats. 🙂

  14. Kitty,
Wonderful photos, Ringo looks so precious, I love Main Coons, I never was owned by one, had many cats over the years, and I was a dog and cat groomer for over 20 years, and most of the main coons were all pretty large, and a lot of them had extra toes, and most were so friendly and cuddly, and I had a few that were even larger than Ringo. Most folks had a hard time keeping them from getting knotted, so we got a lot of them into be groomed, very enjoyable to work on, most of them enjoyed it, but there were a choice few that gave us a run for the money!!! And I almost lost a few fingers when trying to get the knots out, I do miss the grooming for the most part! 🙂
I bet Ringo’s purring was so soothing to sleep by, Glad you had a good time with your sister. I never had one, just a brother, and I am just as close with him like you with your sister and we just don’t get to see each other enough.
Oh well, have a great week, and looking forward to your next creation.
    Thanks for sharing your photos.
    Hugs

  19. Ringo is adorable in a BIG way! We have a cat that adopted us a few months ago…we named him NOSEY because he is so curious. We tried to find out who he belonged to – zip – so we began to feed him, then a little house built for him on the covered porch, then inside for awhile, now….part of the family. We had him fixed and he follows my husband when on a walk, and wants to be where we are, comes when called – actually better than our dog in that respect, and he truly adopted us! Nosey and Lady, our little dog get along fine too. We think someone dropped him off in our subdivision! Nosey now has a good home!!!

  22. Oh Kittie, Ringo is just fabulous! What an amazing cat. One of my own kitties, Milo is a Maine Coon look alike but he only weighs 9.8lbs LOL he would look like a mouse next to Ringo! I am so glad you had a wonderful time with your sisters and love that you share that with us!
Please forgive for not posting on your blog for a while, I always adore your creations and put everything on my Pinterest boards. Maybe we will see a card with Ringo in the not too distant future? is there a cat die made that is big enough lol. ( by the way, there is a Maine Coon Rescue center in Oakland CA, and they post their kitties up for adoption on Pinterest and their website, just in case anyone is interested)

  24. Oh, what a wonderful post! I am a crazy cat lady, living with a crazy cat gent, who would love nothing more than to be owned by a Maine Coon. We have a Norwegian Forest/Ragdoll mix boy named Leonidas who comes close to Ringo in “handsomeness” but not in size. Thank you so very much for letting us enjoy Ringo and your visit with his family.

  28. Hi Kittie,
I have recently come across your blog and think your cards are really special. I have never seen anything similar; they are so distinctive. I love the pics of Ringo, but have to say that your sister is not the only Cynthia with a large male Maine Coon. I have one called Darius and he too is as silly as a sausage; all he wants is to purr and have his tummy rubbed. They have wonderful temperments. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards.

  31. Kittie: I too love cats! I have six. One I inherited. A Manx who is about 28 years old! (born 1988)) two “foundlings”, a 14 toe piebald (each front foot has 7 toes), a very black Turkish Angora and a somewhat ill tempered tortoiseshell with back problems who jumped into my arms rather than be caught by animal control. But I haven’t got anything like your Ringo, that is one BIG beautiful guy. Thanks so much for sharing pictures of him.
