Good Friday morning! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. My husband had to work yesterday so we had our special Christmas celebration together on Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful day together enjoying wonderful Christmas music and movies and a delicious (if I do say so myself) prime rib roast with roasted veggies. Yum!
As much as I love the Christmas holiday card making season I am pretty excited to turn my attention to other card themes. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge. I’ve stated many times before how much I love small pops of color against an all white background. The tiny purple roses and green leaves were made using the Impression Obsession Spiral Flowers and Leaf Cluster. The frame was made using the Sizzix Decorative Accent and Label set and the Spellbinders Classic Circles.
This card has a very elegant look but was really fast and simple to make. I cut the frame and cut the circle opening and a mat using the circle dies. I attached the two together with mounting tape and then attached the frame to the card base with another layer of tape.
I cut three spiral flowers and a couple sets of leaf clusters. I rolled the roses using my tweezers from my Accessory Tool Kit and attached them together with glossy accents. I lightly molded the leaves with a stylus and molding pad and then attached the roses to the leaves with glossy accents creating three separate flower sections. I arranged the three flowers to the card base with glossy accents and filled in around the spray with a few additional leaf sections. I finished by cutting two thin strips of cardstock and attaching to the arrangement to appear as ribbon tails.
Here’s a closer view. Such a simple little arrangement that makes such a big statement against the white background.

American Profile and Handmade Christmas Cards
Lisa Waddle, a writer for American Profile newspaper insert approached me back in August to ask permission to use some of my Christmas projects in an article she was writing featuring homemade holiday cards. I don’t get this little insert and had totally forgotten about it until several of my friends mentioned they had seen it. Luckily a few of them shared their copy with me so I couldn’t resist scanning and sharing with you. This is only the second time I have been published in print. I never send off projects to magazines because I can’t think that far ahead (LOL) and their deadlines are always months in advance of their publication.
Lisa also asked me to give her links to crafting store sites that I like to visit. I was so happy to share Ellen Hutson . I have enjoyed shopping at Ellen’s store and her wonderful customer service for years. I have been privileged to serve on the Impression Obsession design team for a little over two years. All three of my projects in the article were made using Impression Obsession dies. I love working with this company and the wonderful team of designers.
Here’s a closer view of the projects.
Thanks for enduring my little “brag post” and allowing me to share. I hope you have a great day!
congratulations Kittie!
Congratulations, Kittie! This is so well deserved! I enjoy each and every one of your posts. I’m just really bad at leaving a comment. One of my New Year’s resolutions ~ make time to leave more comments 🙂 Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards, Kittie. You have been, and continue to be, a great inspiration to me.

Love your card…I always love seeing how I can use colors in the purple family….I have a dear friend who loves purples, lavender, etc. and I struggle with these colors for some reason….I try to make cards for her special occasions using purples….TFS your ideas and creations.

Congratulations on being published. If I had anything to say I would publish you in every papercraft magazine in existence, you are simply the best and most inspiring designer Ive ever seen. I seriously couldnt see anyone not being awed by looking at any of your cards and wondering how you did that. Also, you are gracious in sharing your “how to” instructions for those of us who want to attempt your lovely creations, and I know many truly appreciate that, including me. Thank you. Congratulations, Kittie! You brag all you want to. We love it.
Good Evening, Kittie. As you can see I am really late today. BRAVO! on being published. Your creations are over the top with beauty and creativity. I am always amazing and inspired when I come here.
I love your lavender flowers and they really pop on white. I like lavender as well, in fact one of favorite flowers is Lilac. They are so delicate an so sweet smelling. can’t grow in Texas to hot. but in Ky where I am from they were
in bloom every spring. Any flower you make is spectacular.
thanks for sharing the good news ….hugs and blessings.
Congratulations, Kittie, for the publication! You are so talented! I’ve enjoyed every card and all the tutorials that you have created.
Congratulations on being published! You certainly deserve it!
Your attention to detail and patience in working with those tiny die cuts is
amazing! That Christmas tree scene in the article is gorgeous, as is the rose
card today.
The breathtaking purple roses are a real tribute to the world of card making and beauty. I think your design is exceptional!!! Congratulations for being published and you shouldn’t feel like you are bragging because you share all the beautiful things you make so willing. If it were up to me you would have your own television show…TFS.
Sorry, the word is supposed to be willingly.
