Good Saturday morning. I have an elegant wedding card to share with you today made using the new Impression Obsession Wedding Cake set, Ornate Rectangle Frame and Leaves and Stems. What a fun time I had making this card. I love to watch the Food Network and Cooking Channel with shows based on cake decorating. I have failed miserably decorating sugar cookies and gingerbread men during Christmas holidays but I still find it to be such an interest art form and wish I could learn more about it. Maybe I will take lessons when I retire but for now I guess I will stick with paper and die cuts.
I made a card this past week for the Impression Obsession die hop using the ornate frame and this same basic layout but created a scene with a girl and her Easter basket. I thought the frame would also be perfect to showcase this pretty wedding cake set. I had to get my 250 strength reading glasses on to work with the tiny rolled roses in the set but I sure had fun making them.
I cut the frame and attached it to the white card base with rolled double stick tape. I cut the cake tiers and bride and groom in white and all the trim and flowers in pink. The bride and groom were colored with copic markers. I assembled the cake tiers together with double stick tape and trimmed sections of the scalloped trim with my snips and attached to the cake tiers with glossy accents. . I cut several stems of leaves apart to use to embellish the tiny roses. I rolled all the tiny roses using my tweezers and finished them with glossy accents. The leaves and roses were arranged and attached on the cake tiers with glossy accents. The bride and groom were attached to the cake top with double stick tape. The cake was attached inside the frame with pieces of mounting tape.
Here’s a closer view. My naked eye didn’t notice that I got black on the chin of the groom but my camera sure picked it up for my close shot. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and sure hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Card size: 5.50” x 4.25”
Good Afternoon, Kittie OH!MY! what a gorgeous layout. a real beauty. It is so nice too that this die has so many pieces, and you made a stunning wedding cake, with your outstanding flowers and color. You could take up cake decorating. Love it.
Simply gorgeous card, Kittie! Love your tiny rolled roses – they were worth the extra effort. It would be lovely to make this card for newlyweds using their wedding colours. Delightful!
Oh Kittie! I just love all your cards. They inspire me to try harder and your cards cost me dearly as I must always then order the IO dies. My husband and I both laughed at your need for your +2.50 readers as he is an ophthalmologist and he hears me constantly grumbling that I need more magnification!
OH MY Word! This is just stunning Kittie.
Now those are some really tiny rolled roses! I never seem to have any need for wedding cards, but I’d really love to have some roses that tiny. Sure hope IO decides to put the same dies in some other die set they come up with. Please ask them to do that for me! 🙂 🙂
WOW!!!!! Kittie, this is absolutely gorgeous…. I think I’ve seen your finest work and then you come out with something that’s so over the line…. Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity….
This is gorgeous. Don’t give up on the cake decorating. You can do it with practice.
What an absolutely beautiful card. I love your work but this really takes the cake. No pun intended.
I too love Food Network and have dabbled with gum paste flowers and animals. I gave that up for making cards. Your card is stunning today as always. I personally miss you when you don’t post and fear cake decorating would keep you away from making your fabulous cards and that would be awful, lol….but if you must…
Fabulous Wedding card Kittie. Looks good enough to eat, especially those roses and leaves, Yum, Yum.
Oh, my…perfect card!!! Love it.
