Good Monday morning. My project today was made using the Essentials by Ellen Home and Hearth that was released for the Christmas holidays last year. I love the little houses and trees in the set and although they are perfect for a snowy Christmas scene I thought it would be fun to create a pastel summer scene with them. I cut the frame, houses, trees, ground and sky background using watercolor paper and watercolored everything using distress reinkers and an aqua brush. I wanted all the elements of the scene to be made with softer colors. My husband said it looks like a hillside community in the Caribbean.
I misted all of the paper to get good and wet before I began water coloring. When painting with reinkers on watercolor paper you will always need to make your mixture heavier with reinker than water as it will always dry lighter than it looks wet. I layered the ground sections on to the back of the frame attaching with ATG adhesive and then attached the frame to the card base with mounting tape. I tucked all the houses and trees in behind the ground sections and attached with glossy accents and mounting tape when needed.
I cut a section of the Impression Obsession Wide tree, cut it apart and created a colorful tree for the background. And yes…I have lost my mind as I attached 1/16” punched circles to the branches using glossy accents and I am now almost blind. LOL! I added a few branch punch stems around the houses that I cut apart and attached the circles to add another element of color. I used a bright pink cardstock for the flowers instead of watercolored paper to add a brighter element of color. The clouds were cut using white cardstock. After I applied the clouds I felt the little houses needed white roofs so I cut more houses, cut the roofs off with my deckle scissors and attached them for the finishing touch.
I appreciate you coming by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful Monday.
Card size: 5.50” x 4.25”
So cute Kittie and I agree with your hubby….love the pastel colors and how you added the grass on and up the frame.
I thought of Bermuda when I first looked at your creation today.
How do we send cards to your Charity kids…what are their ages?
Love your card! What a great way to stretch the use of your dies. So pretty!
Vickie, Here is a link to the charity site. http://mycharity4kids.org/ I had linked in my post but should have drawn more attention to it. Thanks so much for asking.
Oh my, Kittie … ANOTHER WINNER!! Have I told you how much I LOVE your cards? Another technique for me to try … watercoloring with reinkers and an aqua brush. I want to thank you for always providing the exact items you use each time for your creations … and your tips for putting your cards together is always appreciated!!

I had to chuckle at the comment you made about all of the tiny circles you glued to the branches! The detail you put into you creations is amazing. As always, thanks for sharing.
