Have you seen the new Impression Obsession die release with all of the wonderful graduation themed images? I recently received two graduation announcements and am so happy to have had such a wonderful collection of dies to use for my cards. My projects today were made using the Mortarboard and Scroll set, Grads Tossing set, Grads Walking set, Class Of set, Congratulations and All-in-One Frames Rectangles 2. I chose to match my cards to the school colors that were used on the announcements.
The first card was made using dark royal blue and gold as the main focal colors. I created a triple matted frame, attached the Grads Tossing silhouette to the inside of the frame with ATG adhesive and then attached to the card base with mounting tape. I applied small pieces of mounting tape behind a few key spots on the image to hold it away from the base.
I used one of the smaller frames from the new rectangles set to frame the mortarboard and scroll on the inside of the card and created the congratulations sentiment in gold and attached it to the card base with glossy accents.
My second card was made using red and silver as the main focal colors. I created another triple matted frame and attached to the card base with mounting tape. I cut the class of 2015 in both red and silver and created a slight shadow effect by applying the red letters and numbers slightly offset over the silver and attached with glossy accents.
I rolled up thin strips of double sided tape to attach the letters and numbers to the card base. I attached the black walking grad silhouette to the frame with glue dots.
I finished the inside of this card exactly like my first. I love the mortarboard and scroll and I thought the small frame highlighted them perfectly.
If you have graduations coming up soon you will definitely want to take a look at the whole graduation collection. Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Both cards are 5.50” x 4.25”
congrats to the winner of your blog candy!
and congrats to YOU on these amazing graduation cards! gosh, they are wonderful! I love those dies! they would be fabulous to have on hand.
have a great weekend! 🙂
Beautifully framed Graduation cards. Love the detail on the dies and matching the colors was a great idea.
WOW….these cards are amazing! BUT…..how did you do the shadowing! I’d be very interested in know!
good afternoon, Kittie. these are perfect for graduation. I could also see them in the school colors. an wouldn’t the first one be good as a graduation announcement. All done in white or school colors. well done….have a good week-end.
Hi Sue, The shadowing you see on the cards are from the lights that I use to take my pictures. The shadows are not actually made on the card. I hope that makes sense! Thanks for asking.
Really great Kittie! My daughter just graduated from Temple in January. Still have to have a dinner to celebrate here in NY. Those dies will come in handy. You sure know how to bring metal to life. Thanks to you, I love IO dies.
ASOLUTELY BRILLIANT CARDS KITTIE especially the first one. You have really captured the atmosphere of Graduation Day – it is almost possible to actually hear the ‘roar’ of the Graduates. Somehow I feel most people looking at your card will hear it in their hearts. Well done once again Kittie!
You AND whoever designs the IO dies ARE BRILLIANT!! I have never seen such AWESOME graduation dies NOR better inspiration for using dies to create graduation cards. I have every one of these dies on my wish list!! I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! 🙂
Congrats to the winner… and love your cards.
